What problems do 2021 Mazda CX-5’s have?

Consumer Reports doesn’t have a crystal ball that tells them how long a vehicle will last (though that would certainly be nice). Instead, they send surveys to owners of particular vehicles and ask questions about how their cars, trucks, and SUVs are holding up. Then they combine this with what they know about cars in general to make a prediction on how a vehicle will hold up.

Consumer Reports gives the 2021 Mazda CX-5 a 5/5 for reliability. This is obviously a great score, and an indication of how well the Mazda CX-5 is expected to do long-term. So  what problems does the 2021 Mazda CX-5 have? Not that many, actually. The 2020 Mazda CX-5 gets perfect scores in nearly every reliability category, except for in-car electronics, which gets a 4/5.

Are Mazda CX-5’s expensive to maintain?

The 2021 Mazda CX-5 shouldn’t be expensive to maintain. Since past Mazda CX-5 models have held up so well, the costs to service the 2021 Mazda CX-5 should be low. In fact, in the last three years of Consumer Reports’ reliability ratings for the Mazda CX-5, only the paint and trim received a 3/5. Every other reliability rating is at least a 4/5, if not perfect.

Repair Pal says that the average annual cost to repair a Mazda CX-5 is $447. They say that this places it first out of 26 midsize SUVs, and note that $447 is considered low.  Is the 2021 Mazda CX-5 a reliable car? If you look at its maintenance costs, it sure looks that way.

How long will a Mazda CX-5 last?

If you take good care of your 2021 Mazda CX-5 and do regular maintenance, your Mazda CX-5 should last even longer than 200,000 miles. It would be possible to drive your 2021 Mazda CX-5 for 250,000 to 300,000 miles, with proper care.

To make sure that your 2021 Mazda CX-5 lasts even longer, there are several things you can to. Schedule regular oil changes, and keep track of your oil and coolant levels.
