Why the EPA’s Automobile Emissions Guidelines Won’t Work

In this video, we'll share why the EPA's automobile emissions guidelines. The new proposed requirements from the EPA implies that electric vehicles would make up greater than half of new-vehicle gross sales by the 2030 model year and two-thirds by 2032. It would mark a large leap from the present car markets. EVs currently account for 7% of U.S. light-vehicle registrations within the first quarter of this year, per Automotive News information.

The EPA in an announced that they “planned to post a response to comments in the docket for all comments, consistent with requirements under the Administrative Procedure Act and the Clean Air Act.” The public remark interval for the proposal closed July 5. Comments are great but what is the reality.

Automakers are very concerned that they can’t meet the new government standards and leave them with billions of dollars in fines. How would that impact you the consumer, who might be buying a new car?

Alliance for Automotive Innovation, CEO John Bozzella, argues the EPA’s proposed guidelines “cannot be met without substantially increasing the cost of all vehicles, reducing consumer choice and disadvantaging major portions of the U.S. population and territory.”

Ever since the EPA released their automobile emissions guidelines, there's been a lot of backlash from the automotive industry and consumers.

Shocking Truth About Why Car Buyers and Dealers Resist the EV Market

The U.S. automobile market recently saw overall new car sales jump nearly 25% over the last year. But while electric vehicles have received a push from the government and seen a boost in sales, many car buyers remain hesitant to go electric.

Concerns about infrastructure, “range anxiety” and high costs in an uncertain economy have kept EV sales lower than advocates had hoped. The consumer hesitancy naturally has a direct impact on auto dealers, who have to decide what types of vehicles they’re going to keep in stock by weighing government incentives while also preparing for governmental regulations.

The fear of running out of power before finding the next charging station, also known as range anxiety, has been and continues to be a major roadblock in the EV market.

The Biden administration declared that it wants to see 50% of all new vehicle sales be electric by 2030. But experts say it will never happen.
