Tesla Agrees to Open Its Charging Network to ALL EVs in US for $7.5B

The Biden administration announced new standards for expanding the national electric vehicle (EV) charging network in order to encourage widespread EV adoption by providing a "predictable" user experience. All charging stations will soon be required to adopt the same connector types, payment methods, and data privacy assurances. These new standards have pushed Tesla, for the first time, to make part of its proprietary charging network compatible with non-Tesla EVs in the United States. We knew that Elon Musk was in DC, now we know why.

Tesla announced that it has agreed to open its charging network to ALL vehicles in the US for all EVs. This move will make it easier than ever for EV owners to charge their vehicles, and it will reduce the number of electric vehicle owners who have to wait to charge their vehicles.

Will Old Parking Garages Collapse Under the Weight of EVs?

The collapse of a parking garage in New York City on Tuesday that killed at least one person has put a new spotlight on aging structures used for vehicle storage. The exact cause of the structure’s failure has not been determined, but updates have been made to it in the years since and it is currently licensed to accommodate 276 vehicles.

The incident occurred after a recent study raised concerns that many older parking garages may need to be re-evaluated due to the increasing average weight of vehicles, particularly electric models.

The report from the British Parking Association noted that some electric cars weigh more than double what popular models in the same segments did in the 1960s, due in part to their heavy battery packs. This also often applies to contemporary cars.

The converted brownstone or building was never meant for a parking garage. The Load rating per square foot was exceeded.

Considering the extra weight of EV's, how will this effect the roads, will the weight shorten the lifespan roads and bridges too.
