When purchasing a vehicle, everyone has different priorities. Some consumers want a car with style and a powerful engine, while others want one with numerous safety features and fuel efficiency. But most people want a reliable vehicle that won’t cost an arm and a leg at the repair shop. That’s why car shoppers should steer clear of the Acura RDX to avoid significant repair costs, Consumer Reports shows.

An overview of the Acura RDX

The Acura RDX, a luxury compact SUV, has been in production since 2006. It was initially based on the Honda CR-V, which remains a popular SUV for many American individuals and families. But it switched to its own Acura platform after its third generation came out in 2019.

The latest model, the 2021 Acura RDX, is an overall decent SUV with responsive handling and a smooth ride, U.S. News reports. It also comes with many standard features, such as a 10.2-inch infotainment display, a Wi-Fi hotspot, HD Radio, voice recognition, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Despite the long list of infotainment features, navigating its menus often feels like a chore

Starting at $38,400, the base Acura RDX provides a rearview camera, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and other driver assists. One can opt to purchase more infotainment or safety features, and many come standard on higher trims, such as the Acura RDX A-Spec and Acura RDX Advance packages.

Consumer Reports’ list of the most and least expensive cars to repair and maintain

Consumer Reports is a highly trusted and respected review site providing comprehensive analyses of vehicles and other major household purchases. CR’s recent “Least and Most Expensive Cars to Keep on the Road” takes a look at the annual repair costs of vehicles that are now 10 years old.

Interestingly, the 2011 Nissan Leaf costs car owners virtually nothing to keep running, and it continues to be a vehicle with top reliability scores. The Honda CR-V is also one of the least spendy vehicles for maintenance, costing owners only about $300 per year.

Unfortunately, not every car is cheap to maintain. The 2011 BMW 5 Series, for example, costs $1,200 annually to maintain, the most expensive by far. The Chevrolet Suburban fares only slightly better, with $900 yearly to keep running, and the GMC Acadia requires $775.

Of course, these values are an average among owners who respond to Consumer Reports surveys. Maintenance and repair costs will vary widely among owners, depending on a huge number of factors.

The Acura RDX ranks near the top of the most expensive SUVs to maintain

Those interested in purchasing an Acura RDX will want to take maintenance costs into account because this model is one of the most expensive to repair at the 10-year mark. Consumer Reports has given this luxury compact SUV inconsistent reliability ratings since it debuted over a decade ago.

Despite some model years with excellent reliability ratings, such as 2016, others have been abysmal, such as 2020. One constant of the Acura RDX from Consumer Reports, however, is its low owner satisfaction ratings. These are based on the number of RDX owners who say they would definitely purchase the same vehicle again if they had the option. Apparently, not many people have agreed with that statement over the years.

Overall, car shoppers looking for a reliable and cheap-to-maintain SUV should avoid the Acura RDX, according to Consumer Reports.

For some people, cars are a machine that gets us where we need to go, help us run errands, and essentially work as little more than a method of transportation. For car enthusiasts, cars have so much more meaning, and that is why we tend to spend hours, days, weeks, and sometimes even years building and modifying our cars to be something special.

Some enthusiasts prefer to keep their cars in pristine, factory condition, and some prefer to make them dramatically different, but whatever you choose to do, it seems like they are more than just cars. Perhaps that is why, when this YouTuber dedicated his most recent Lamborghini build to his father, who recently passed away, there is no doubt that more than a few viewers shed a tear.

Who is Stradman

If you’ve never watched The Stradman on YouTube, chances are you don’t know who James is, and if you aren’t into automotive YouTube channels yet, James’s enthusiastic personality is just the way to get interested. The Stradman channel is known for crazy and unique supercar builds featuring James, who has the personality of a genuine car enthusiast who is always excited about what he’s doing.

Sadly, this May, James’s father, who has been seen in a handful of his videos, passed away before he could see the final rendition of the channel’s latest unique build. According to James, his father was incredibly excited for this latest build, and, as such, he decided to dedicate the car to his father.

The car itself has been months in the making for The Stradman channel, and we’ve been anxiously awaiting the debut of the final product. The build is based on an already show-stopping car: a Lamborghini Aventador. If you didn’t love the over-the-top looks of the Aventador as it comes from Lamborghini, you might love the vibrant pink color or the wide-body Liberty Walk body kit.

A heart-felt dedication to his father

In his latest video, James begins by bringing back a clip of an older video where he is on his way to the airport to pick up “on of the most important people in [his] life,” his dad, followed by a another clip of his dad riding in the passenger seat of his Lamborghini.

“This is the first video I’ve filmed that he’s not going to be watching. I know I shouldn’t be filming the video right now, but, for one reason or another, I feel like, because we finished the car and he died a couple hours later, this car is, like, in remembrance of him, and, I just want to honor him in some way.

James Condon, The Stradman

After months of watching the build, viewers of The Stradman channel finally got to see the final product revealed just moments before James begins to discuss the events that occurred with his father.

Not shying away from the camera, James holds it together enough to explain his father’s role in not only his life but his success as a YouTuber.

Three Hybrid trim levels give buyers plenty of options

Hyundai also offers three trim levels of the 2022 Tucson for hybrid shoppers. Each one comes HTRAC AWD. The first level, Blue HEV, starts at $29,050. The SEL Convenience HEV starts at $31,650. The most expensive hybrid trim package, the Limited HEV, starts at $37,350.

Hyundai equipped the 2022 hybrid Tucson with a 1.6 L gas turbo engine. It works in tandem with an electric motor to produce 226 hp and 258 feet of torque. The biggest benefit of the hybrid model is its gas-saving fuel economy at 38 mpg combined.

A plug-in hybrid will be rolling out to join the line-up. Hyundai has not released pricing and specs for the upcoming PHEV. Currently, all that’s publicly known is that it will produce 261 horsepower and have 32 miles of all-electric range.

From the ground up, this SUV is loaded with features

Each of the 2022 Honda Tucson’s trim packages features the same Smartstream 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that puts out 187 horsepower and 178 feet of torque. Its boosted towing capacity allows drivers to pull up to 2,000 pounds. SHIFTRONIC manual shift mode makes its eight-speed transmission an attractive option.

The standard features equipped on every trim level include some “nice-to-haves.” All models have 8-inch touchscreen infotainment. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as HD radio, is a nice tech touch. The Tucson’s standard safety features include Intelligent Speed Limit Assist, Forward Collision-Avoidance, Pedestrian Detection, and Lane Following Assist make the Tucson easier to drive.

Each of the 2022 Hyundai Tucson’s trim packages largely includes the same features. There’s a big jump in features between the base trim level and the SEL. The jump in features from SEL to Limited is much less comprehensive.

With a price difference of more than $12,000 between the base and Limited trim levels, buyers should carefully weigh the benefits and features. The base model is missing features included in all other trim levels, but it’s a bargain.

The Limited trim level has a few cosmetic differences. All trim levels below Limited feature 17-inch alloy wheels. The Limited trim level features 19-inch alloy wheels. It also has black mirror housings. Features like a proximity-activated power-lift rear liftgate and wireless charging are nice but largely missable.

The SEL trim level raises the 2022 Hyundai Tucson’s suggested MSRP by only $1,550. It includes all the features of the Limited except for a few details. The SEL trim level has a lot to offer for a small bump in price, making it the most worth-it trim level that’s currently been announced.
