This is what we’ve come to expect from TikTok. That’s not a criticism so much as it is resigning oneself to expect the inane, insane, and idiotic. Case in point? People throughout the US are pitching slices of cheese at cars.

Why are people throwing cheese at cars?

There are different news reports about this happening from every corner of our fair country. Maybe even beyond. Is there a point to it or is it just an annoyance?

Through the magic of YouTube we can see what is happening; which is what we say is happening. People are finding cheese slices stuck to their cars. So what does it mean?

Does it mean you’re marked to be abducted?

Some are saying it means that you are in danger of being kidnapped. If you’re just some random person with average means the first question would be, “Why?” Unless you’re an oil heiress or just won the lottery, why would you be in danger of being abducted?

Is it vandalism? The new version of throwing eggs at someone or something? There’s a chance that it might be. Though not nearly as damaging as eggs thrown on your car, sliced cheese does contain some acids.

Let it bake onto your car’s paint and it could be a problem. So there’s that. A group of teens in Philadelphia was charged with disorderly conduct. So it does have consequences; at least in Philly.

You must be “vigilant” if you get cheesed says the Canadian Royal Mounted Police

According to CamLoopsNow, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police has warned the public about these “cheesing” incidents. It is urging residents to be “vigilant” over teens that “cheesed” a multitude of cars in the Kamloops area. And if you throw your cheese from a car, that’s a chargeable offense.

The videos say it is a TikTok challenge to get viewers to toss their cheese slices at cars and/or babies. Beyond that, and even considering that, we have no clue why. If you were looking for answers, we have failed you.

How bad is cheesing?

So, what should you do if you’re a victim of cheesing? Charge it up to kids having some fun at your expense if there is no damage. But if it causes damage you should call the police and your insurance company. Report it to both and see where it goes. If it continues to happen, watch for who might be doing it and get phone video or look at surveillance images if available.

Because you might think we at Motorbiscuit are just making this up, we have a YouTube vid and images. If you’re out and about you must be “vigilant” lest you be the victim of a cheesing. It could ruin your standing in the community and general reputation from here on out.

You can be affected for the rest of your life by the horror and humiliation of being cheesed. Your pals at MotorBiscuit have warned you.

Despite the fact that most celebrities get chauffeured everywhere, celebrity car collections are some of the most exotic ones out there. From Kanye West to Jay-Z, these stars have expensive tastes in cars. But where do they go to buy these flashy vehicles? And how exactly do they go about picking one?

Where do celebrities buy their cars?

We’re going to pull the curtain down and reveal a somewhat unsettling truth: celebrities are people too. Sure, they’ve got a seemingly endless stream of income, and a loyal fan base that’ll praise their every breath. But they’re not special in the eyes of the dealership, forced to go through the same process we all do.

Provided, their tastes are far more expensive. Think Maybachs, Bentleys, Rolls Royces. But all those fancy brands still have dealerships, though with higher quality customer service (you don’t want to piss off a celebrity). Their accountants walk in and fill out the paperwork, but all the inner workings of car purchasing is the same.

There are some exceptions. The New York Times discovered RD Whittington, who imports high-end cars and sells them to celebrities using Instagram. A simple 10-second clip could make him $10 million dollars, and he’s earned quite a reputation as a reliable, “no hiccups” car dealer.

And that’s one of the many things celebrities, or their managers, are looking for in businesses: exceptional customer service.

What do celebrities look for in a car?

We say customer service, but that’s an umbrella for many different things. For starters, celebrities have incredibly packed schedules, with records to produce and movies to shoot. They’re looking for a dealership, or a person like Whittington, who can operate around the clock. And in the case of Whittington, they don’t even meet him face to face or see the car before someone drops a boatload of cash on it.

But celebrities also love feeling special. Who doesn’t? That personalized experience and top-notch service are often what convinces celebrities to buy those cars. After all, the dealership/automaker wants nothing more than for a celeb to drive their product, as then other people will want that product more. It’s celebrity endorsement, but we’re diving too much into marketing.

Like you and I, celebrities also like to be comfortable. Granted, they can afford more than the plush seats of a Ford Focus (a surprisingly comfy car if you ask me, but you definitely don’t want to buy one). Larger athletes especially need those comfortable cars, with ease of access, in order to keep their bodies feeling good. After all, sitting in an uncomfortable car seat for hours could hinder their game-time performance.

So the only difference between the average Joe and the uber-rich is how much money we can spend. But after all is said and done, celebrities have to buy cars the same way you and I do. This begs the question, do they finance, or pay in full?

Do celebrities buy or lease cars?

One would think that the obvious answer is to buy a car. In fact, it’s cheaper to buy a car rather than lease it no matter how rich you are. And in reality, celebrities make decisions the same way you and I do. If they’ve got the dough, then yeah, they’ll blow it all at once, but that’s not always the case.

MC Hammer, who went bankrupt at the height of his career, financed an awful lot of things, cars included. In fact, his mansion had a 17 car garage, which featured custom Lambos. And while we don’t suggest blowing through your $70 million dollar fortune, financing cars can sometimes be a good option too.

As much as we like to picture celebrities as high and mighty, they’re really not much different. They seem so distant because of their fame, success, and wealth, but they’re not to be exempt from buying cars. Granted, their car buying experience might be better, because many dealerships would kiss the feet of a celebrity. But I doubt a salesperson would come kiss mine.

Ford Intelligent Backup Power

Ford claims that the Ford F-150 Lightning can provide 9.6 kilowatts of energy to a home’s electrical system. The American automaker believes the F-150 Lightning can power a home completely for three days or partially for as many as 10 days using the extended range battery. Intelligent Backup Power automatically activates in the event of a power outage when the Ford Charge Station Pro and home management system is installed.

Tesla’s Model S Plaid can certainly hang with the quickest speed freaks. But Tesla might not have the lock on fast EVs for much longer. The Lucid Air is almost here, and when it launches, the Dream Editions will be the first out of the gate. Up until now, Lucid has only teased at what its highest-trim sedans are capable of. But now, the official Lucid Air Dream Edition specs are out—and they’re rather ludicrous.

The 2022 Lucid Air Dream Edition offers Range and Performance

2022 Lucid Air Dream Edition Range and Performance rear | Lucid
Spec 2022 Lucid Air Dream Edition Range 2022 Lucid Air Dream Edition Performance
Drive type Dual-motor, AWD Dual-motor, AWD
Power 933 hp 1,111 hp
Torque 737+ lb-ft 737+ lb-ft
Battery capacity 113 kWh 113 kWh
0-60 mph time 2.7 seconds 2.5 seconds
Claimed range 503 miles (projected) Not available

Among the multiple Lucid Air trims, the Dream Editions stand at the top in terms of speed, range, and price. And their official specs are arguably more impressive than what Lucid originally estimated. When Lucid first announced the limited-edition Air Dream Edition, it claimed the electric sedan would offer 1,080 hp, go 0-60 mph in 2.5 seconds, and go 503 miles on a charge. Technically, it achieved those targets, albeit with two trims instead of one.

However, the Air Dream Edition didn’t just meet its horsepower claim. MotorTrend independently ran two Dream Edition Ranges on a California highway loop to test their range claims. After a 445-mile drive from LA to San Francisco to Lucid’s headquarters, the EVs had 35 and 72 miles of range remaining, respectively. Averaging the results gives the 2022 Air Dream Edition Range a real-world range of 498.5 miles. That’s less than 1% off of Lucid’s original claims.

Admittedly, this result is based on two cars, so EPA testing may deliver some different figures. And as of this writing, Lucid hasn’t released official range estimates for the Dream Edition Performance. But according to MotorTrend, the Range’s, well, range “is 50 miles greater” than the Performance.

Still, on paper, it seems like the Lucid Air Dream Edition is on track to nail its targets, relatively speaking. But is that enough to make the Tesla Model S Plaid nervous?

How does the 2022 Lucid Air Dream Edition compare to the Tesla Model S Plaid?

A red 2022 Tesla Model S Plaid driving down a road
2022 Tesla Model S Plaid | Tesla
Spec 2022 Lucid Air Dream Edition Performance 2022 Tesla Model S Plaid
Drive type Dual-motor, AWD Tri-motor, AWD
Power 1,111 hp 1,020 hp
Torque 737+ lb-ft 1,050 lb-ft
Battery capacity 113 kWh 100 kWh
0-60 mph time 2.5 seconds 1.98 seconds (MotorTrend)
1/4-mile time and trap speed 9.245 seconds @ 157.26 mph (prototype testing) 9.25 seconds @ 152.6 mph (MotorTrend)
Claimed range 449 miles (based on MotorTrend report) 348 miles

On paper, the 2022 Tesla Model S Plaid is less powerful than the Lucid Air Dream Edition Performance. It also has less battery capacity and a shorter range. However, the Model S Plaid has more torque than the Dream Edition Performance. And it’s technically faster from 0-60 mph.

Well, kind of. Firstly, MotorTrend achieved that sub-2-second 0-60 mph time by excluding rollout and running on a prepped dragstrip. While excluding rollout is standard industry practice, it’s not real-world realistic. Neither is running on the grippy surface of a dragstrip, such as the one where Jay Leno set a ¼-mile record in another Tesla Model S Plaid. Furthermore, the Plaid requires a lengthy preparation cycle to accelerate that quickly. So, IRL, it’s not quite that fast.

Yet it might still be faster than the Air Dream Edition Performance. One Tesla Model S Plaid owner ran their EV on a public highway and saw an average 0-60 mph time of 2.17 seconds, Road & Track reports. That’s including rollout time. In addition, Lucid’s prototype achieved those ¼-mile results on a sticky dragstrip, too, Road & Track notes.

But there’s another wrinkle: range. As expected, the Tesla Model S Plaid doesn’t go as far as the Long Range on a charge. However, MotorTrend only managed 305 miles of highway range with its Model S Plaid tester, not 348.

How much will it cost when it becomes available?

The Tesla Model S Plaid does have one more advantage over the 2022 Lucid Air Dream Edition, though. The former’s $129,900 purchase price is noticeably lower than the latter’s $169,000 starting price. And the Model S Plaid is available today; Air Dream Edition deliveries won’t start until later this year.

However, there will be cheaper Air models available after the Dream Editions are delivered. And while they won’t be as fast or as powerful, they should have the specs needed to give Tesla pause.
