The Tesla Model S Plaid is the latest and greatest consumer car from Tesla, with a hefty price tag and surprising performance statistics. It adds excitement to an ever-growing world of all-electric vehicles, giving buyers the option to get performance and luxury wrapped into a vehicle that doesn’t burn any gasoline, but it is more than just a car. Besides the fact that it gets you from point A to point B, the Tesla Model S combines all of the great hidden features and Easter Eggs we’ve found snuck into other Tesla Models to create a vehicle that is worth just sitting in your driveway after work just a little bit longer.

You don’t have to worry about burning too much gas, or emmisions

Unlike a gas-powered vehicle, you don’t have to think about how much money you are wasting by just sitting in your car with the engine still on. Besides the lack of guilt, you can also sit in your garage with the garage door closed, because there are no harmful gasses emitted from the vehicle that can give you carbon monoxide poisoning (a friendly reminder not to sit in an enclosed space such as a garage with a hybrid vehicle, as they still have gasoline engines).

You can literally play video games in the Tesla Model S Plaid

After a long day, sometimes it’s just nice to scroll through social media or play a few games on our phone before we head inside — and the Tesla Model S Plaid takes this to a whole new level. On the large infotainment screen, you can select from an entire arcade of games available, and, even cooler, you use the Tesla’s ‘yolk’ (the steering wheel) as a giant gaming controller. Bored? Just go outside or into your garage and enjoy some video games in your Tesla Model S Plaid. In fact, with all of the games offered, you might just find yourself going out of your way to spend some extra time in your Tesla. If video games aren’t your thing, you can also stream movies, YouTube, and Netflix right onto the screen — put it in romance mode and you can have a night out without even leaving your…car.

It has an actual camping mode for when you really want to hangout in your car

Whether you’re relaxing for a few hours while your child finishes soccer practice or ballet rehearsal, or stopping to camp out in your Tesla Model S Plaid, the vehicle comes equipped with a fancy and useful camping mode. This mode is simple, and if you’ve ever had an electric vehicle or hybrid that shuts itself off after a certain amount of inactivity, you can appreciate just how cool this feature is. With camp mode, the Tesla maintains all of it’s electrical features, such as cabin lights and air conditioning or heating, at least until your car reaches 20% battery life (to ensure that the vehicle doesn’t die completely and you can still make it back to a charger).

The Tesla Model S Plaid was truly designed to be customer-focused, taking in all of the critiques from the previous model years and making minor adjustments and tweaks to make the latest Tesla model even better than before, with a completely new redesign that makes it worth buying new rather than buying an older, used Tesla.

The import wars of the early 2000s are about to reignite, and not just because there’s a new Acura Integra on the way. A new Nissan Z is coming to town, which means the modern Toyota Supra has a direct rival again. And with the Z vs. Supra rivalry rekindled, enthusiasts will soon start picking sides. But while the 2021 Supra is a capable sports car, the 2023 Nissan Z might have it beat in at least one key area: price.

How much does the 2023 Nissan Z cost compared to the 2021 Toyota Supra?

2023 Nissan Z | Nissan

As of this writing, Nissan hasn’t revealed the full pricing details for the 2023 Z. However, the automaker has said that a base Z Sport “will start at around $40,000,” Road & Track reports. The next trim up, the Z Performance, will presumably be slightly more expensive. For context, the outgoing 370Z’s highest trim, the Nismo, started at $45,790.

In comparison, the base 2021 Toyota Supra, the Supra 2.0, starts at $43,090. So, it’s roughly as expensive as the 2023 Z. However, the 2021 Supra 3.0 starts at $51,090. The sportier Supra 3.0 Premium is even pricier at $54,590. And there’s an even more expensive A91-CF trim coming for 2022. But since it’s a limited-edition trim, something the Nissan Z will also offer, it’s not worth price-matching.

Regardless, the 2023 Nissan Z appears to be slightly cheaper than a base 2021 Toyota Supra 2.0. And it’s noticeably cheaper than the Supra 3.0.

Does the 2021 Toyota Supra offer more performance or features than the 2023 Nissan Z?

2021 Toyota GR Supra 3.0 Premium | Toyota
Spec 2023 Nissan Z 2021 Toyota Supra 2.0 2021 Toyota Supra 3.0
Engine 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six
Power 400 hp 255 hp 382 hp
Torque 350 lb-ft 295 lb-ft 368 lb-ft
Transmission Six-speed manual
Nine-speed automatic
Eight-speed automatic Eight-speed automatic
0-60 mph time 4.25 seconds (manual, The Drive estimate) 4.7 seconds (Car and Driver) 3.7 seconds (Car and Driver)

The 2023 Nissan Z’s starting price presents a problem for the 2021 Toyota Supra. For one, the Z is more powerful than the Supra 2.0 despite costing roughly the same. And secondly, although the Supra 3.0 is faster than the Z, it doesn’t have a manual. Plus, the two sports cars should weigh roughly the same, MotorTrend muses.

In terms of performance features, the 2021 Toyota Supra 3.0 pulls slightly ahead of the 2023 Z. For example, the Supra 3.0 has adjustable dampers, and the Premium models have Brembo brakes. Those brakes are larger than the Z Sport’s ventilated discs. The Supra 3.0 also has a standard electronically-controlled limited-slip differential. In contrast, only the Z Performance gets an LSD, and it’s a mechanical one.

Also, the Z Performance’s Bridgestone Potenza tires aren’t quite on the same level as the Supra’s Michelin Pilot Super Sports, R&T notes. And for 2022, all Toyota Supra buyers get a one-year National Auto Sport Association membership and one free High Performance Driving Event class.

However, the 2023 Nissan Z Performance does have larger brakes overall than the Toyota Supra 3.0 Premium. And while the BMW-based Supra doesn’t offer Android Auto at all, it’s standard on every Z. Plus, even in Sport trim, the 2023 Z has a larger digital gauge cluster than the Supra.

Which sports car is worth buying?

Without driving the 2023 Nissan Z and the 2021 Toyota Supra models back-to-back, it’s impossible to say which is the better sports car. True, these cars are roughly the same length and have similar suspension setups and strut-tower braces. But with different wheelbases, powertrains, brakes, and chassis, the decision ultimately hinges on some test drives.

However, there are two things worth keeping in mind. Compared to the cheapest Toyota Supra, the cheapest 2023 Z is, on paper, a faster car for slightly less money. And with a standard manual, it offers an experience the Supra 2.0 can’t match. With one car offering both of these things, Toyota might have to start worrying soon.

Legos are not just for kids anymore. In recent years Lego has released some fantastic sets aimed at older audiences. The sets targeted to the 18 and over crowd include subject matter like pop culture, architecture, and our favorite, cars. Some of the car-themed sets from the plastic brick manufacturer have really impressed us.

There are a few standouts like the Lego Technic Lamborghini Sian, but for the most part, all of the Speed Champions and car-themed Technic sets are great. However, there are countless different makes and models of automobiles out in the world, and Lego has not even scratched the surface. After thinking about it, we came up with a group of cars that do not currently have a Lego counterpart but should.

Honda Civic Type R

2021 Honda Civic Type R | Honda

The Honda Civic Type R is arguably the best Civic Honda has ever produced. Some could say that it sits on the thrown of hot hatches that are available today. It has respectable performance, aggressive looks, and plenty of street cred.

There is also the fact that it is part of a linage of performance cars from Honda. Several generations of Civic Type Rs have come before the current FK8 generation, and each of them has added to the model’s legend. We think a Lego set of Honda’s heroic hatchback would be the perfect addition to our collection.

BMW E30 M3

A red BMW M3 E30 generation.
BMW M3 E30 | BMW

The M3 model has an even longer and more storied history than the Civic mentioned above Type R. For decades, the M3 has been known as the “Ultimate Driving Machine”. BMW has raced the M3 for generations in several motorsport disciplines, and it has always performed exceptionally. The M3 has remained a benchmark for all other manufacturers who have looked to produce an excellent sports car that someone can drive daily.

The M3 legend started way back in 1972 with the original E30 M3. The E30 M3’s “box flare” fenders and rear spoiler clearly conveyed that it was no ordinary 3-series. The E30’s simple shape lends to its visual apparel. It is also one of the most sought-after M3s among collectors. Some have spent well over six figures at auctions for a mint condition example. For those of us who cannot afford to do that, a Lego set would work nicely.

Aston Martin Vulcan

There are “hypercars,” and then there is the Aston Martin Vulcan. While all the current Aston Martin talk revolves around the Valkyrie, before that came the Vulcan. The Aston Martin Vulcan was the brand’s first foray into producing a weekend track-only hypercar. Though with some modifications, it can be made street-legal.

We think that the Aston Martin Vulcan would make for a great Lego Technic set. Technic sets are more advanced and generally have more detail, and pieces like the Lamborghini Sian set we mentioned earlier. However, we would have no problem spending hours putting a Lego Technic Aston Martin Vulcan together.

These are just a few of the cars that we would love to see as future Lego sets but they are certainly not the only ones. We only hope that we can find the room (and money) if all the cars we want to see as Lego sets were actually made.

Planning a wedding is no easy feat. Now, imagine your big day finally arrives, and a string of heavy storms rolls in. If you’re having an outdoor wedding, those storms could represent a big problem. After all, while some say rain on your wedding day can signify good luck, others aren’t quite as superstitious. Unfortunately for one Michigan couple, that’s exactly what happened during their outdoor wedding reception. The storms rolled in, and the power quickly went out. Fortunately for them, the 2021 Ford F-150 Hybrid truck was there to save the evening and keep the party going.

Ford F-150 generator saves Michigan wedding reception during a power outage

The lights went dark, the music went out, and everything was suddenly still. That was the story for one Michigan-based bride and groom. Fortunately for the newlyweds, married Ford engineers Harish Thiruvengadam and Swetha Shailendra were present at the Farmington Hills wedding reception, Fox News reports.

“Everything was going fine, it was a great party, actually, and out of the blue there was a power outage,” Thiruvengadam told Fox News.

Fortunately, Thiruvengadam is a quick thinker. In fact, After realizing the power outage was more than just a tripped circuit breaker, he remembered that he’d driven his Ford F-150 Hybrid to the outdoor wedding reception. And if you know anything about the Ford F-150 Hybrid, you know it can be had with ProPower Onboard, which includes a 7.2-kilowatt generator and a slew of conveniently placed outlets in the hybrid truck’s bed.

With that, Thiruvengadam gathered up the extension cords for the lights and music, plugged them into his hybrid truck, and got the wedding festivities going again. “It was amazing,” the bride told The Detroit Free Press. “Everybody was just getting into their groove and, with the help of the F-150, the party lasted until 2 a.m. or 3 a.m.”

This isn’t the first time the F-150 Hybrid truck’s generator has saved the day

In fact, remember those snowstorms that Texas experienced earlier this year? The Ford F-150 Hybrid and its available on-board generator were a lifesaver for Texans that were left without heat and electricity throughout the duration of the winter storm.

At the time, one Ford F-150 Hybrid owner explained to CNBC that while he bought the hybrid truck because of its onboard generator, he didn’t anticipate using it until hurricane season. Then, when his power went out during the historic winter storm, he decided to put the hybrid truck’s generator to the test.

“Without it I would have been in the dark and cold like everybody else in the neighborhood,” Jones said, adding that he also allowed neighbors to use the onboard generator to charge their phones and laptops. “Quite a few of the neighbors said, ‘Hey, I’m getting one,’ like, ‘I’m trading my Dodge or GMC,’ because, South Texas, with hurricanes and things like that, we’re always having power outages.”

How many watts is the 2021 Ford F-150 Hybrid’s generator?

Ford F-150 Hybrid ProPower Onboard | Ford

At this point, you may find yourself asking how many watts the 2021 Ford F-150 Hybrid’s generator actually produces. The good news is that we’ve got the answer for you. All Ford F-150 Hybrid trucks come equipped with a 2.4kW generator that’s available with up to four 120V/20A outlets. Between the two, the hybrid truck can power anything from a reciprocating saw to a microwave.

And if that’s not enough power? The 2021 Ford F-150 can also be had with a 7.2kW onboard generator. Paired with up to six 120V/20A outlets and one 240V/30A outlet, the F-150 Hybrid’s available 7.2kW onboard generator can power a welder, hammer drill, space heater, and even a television. And a wedding reception, of course.

The Ford F-150 Hybrid is a lifesaver for many

The Ford F-150 Hybrid has proven time and again that it has what it takes to save the day. From powering homes amid a historic winter storm to bringing one Michigan couple’s wedding back to life, there’s no denying that the Ford F-150 Hybrid and its onboard generator has served as a lifesaver for many.
