The Tesla Model 3 is one of the more affordable luxury electric cars you can get. It’s also the most popular Tesla model, possibly because it is also the cheapest Tesla model. However, its, relatively speaking, low price does not mean it’s a bad car. In fact, it is one of the best electric cars on the market right now.

The problem with a good luxury car is that, historically, they often only come with rear-wheel drive. However, more and more luxury and high-performance vehicles either come with standard all-wheel drive or offer it. So, does the Tesla Model 3 have all-wheel drive?

The Tesla Model 3 performance specs

The base Model 3 comes with rear-wheel drive and boasts a top speed of 140 mph with a 0-60 mph speed of 5.3 seconds. It has a range of 263 miles with an estimated 150/133 MPGe city/highway rating. All Model 3 trims have a single-speed automatic transmission, a sporty suspension, precise steering, and decently smooth brakes.

The middle trim, the Long Range trim, has a top speed of 145 mph with a 0-60 mph of 4.2 seconds. True to its name, it has the longest range at 353 miles with an estimated 141/127 MPGe city/highway rating. Meanwhile, the top-level trim, the Performance trim, has a top speed of 162 mph and an impressive 0-60 mph speed of 3.1 seconds. It has a range of 315 miles with an estimated 118/107 MPGe city/highway rating.

Yes, the Model 3 has an all-wheel drive option

It is not a standard feature on the Model 3, but when you configure your Tesla, you have the option to add all-wheel drive. Both the Long Range and the Performance trims come with dual-motor all-wheel drive. U.S. News deemed the Model 3 one of the 13 best all-wheel drive sports cars for 2021, specifically on its Performance trim.

How much will it cost to configure your Tesla?

Even though it’s definitely the cheapest Tesla and one of the least expensive high-performance electric cars on the market, the Performance trim is still not cheap, with a starting price of $56,990. The base Model 3 starts at $39,490, and the Long Range trim starts at $48,490. It should be noted that these are the most recent prices, as Tesla has been steadily increasing the price of the Model 3.

If you decide you want the Model 3 with all-wheel drive, it’s not difficult to select AWD as an option when ordering your car. It is actually the first choice Tesla gives you when you start to build your car online. The prices listed on Tesla’s website are slightly lower than the above prices, but they include the potential tax incentives and gas savings of $4,300. However, the important word here is potential, and any tax incentive or rebate you qualify for may or may not be included at the time of purchase.

Some people love high-performance cars for the sound the engine makes when it’s revved up. Some people want a high-performance model that handles spectacularly in any given situation with blink-and-you-miss-it acceleration. If you fall into the latter group, the 2021 Model 3 Performance trim will likely satisfy you. Even at close to $57,000, it still undercuts the competition by tens of thousands of dollars. Just remember that the price advertised when you build the car on Tesla’s site reflects potential savings, and your initial cost will be higher.

It’s not time to say goodbye to 2021 models yet. While auto manufacturers have jumped ahead to 2022, Honda is enhancing what it already has. It just revealed the 2021 Honda CR-V Special Edition trim, and it’s value-packed.

What is the 2021 Honda CR-V Special Edition trim?

2021 Honda CR-V Hybrid | Honda

The new Honda CR-V Special Edition trim slots between the current LX and EX trims. The front-wheel drive model starts at $27,725, and if you include all-wheel drive, the price increases to $29,195.

You get tons of extra goodies compared to the base 2021 CR-V base trim that starts at around $26,525. It features modern tech like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a 7.0-inch touchscreen, push-button start, and a six-speaker stereo system.

The convenience features include dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, heated mirrors, remote start, and 17-inch black alloy wheels. This gives you a lot for the $1,200 upgrade.

What about the EX trim?

There are still a few reasons to go with the EX trim over the Special Edition option. The 2021 Honda CR-V Special Edition trim is only available with the gasoline powertrain. It’s a 1.5-liter four-cylinder unit with 190 hp and 179 lb-ft of torque.

The EX, EX-L, and Touring trims are offered with the hybrid powertrain. It pairs a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with two electric motors to generate 212 hp and 232 lb-ft of torque. Plus, the Honda CR-V Hybrid gets an EPA-estimated 40 mpg in the city and up to 35 mph on the highway compared to 28 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway.

With the Honda CR-V EX, you get a 12-way adjustable power driver’s seat, second-row charging ports for the kids, satellite radio, an HD radio, a moonroof, and blind-spot monitoring. It’s $1,310 over the Special Edition trim, which isn’t a bad price. However, we wish more safety features were added.

What are the other Honda CR-V trim levels?

Compared to the Honda CR-V Special Edition Trim, the EX-L trim takes that luxury feel to the next level. It includes a leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather seats, and a shift knob for a premium feel.

You also get a power liftgate, power four-adjustable passenger seat, a 12-Volt outlet in the center console, rear-window defroster, automatic dimming rearview mirror, and Homelink. It starts at about $3,450 and costs $2,500 more than the EX trim.

The 2021 Honda CR-V Touring trim is the cream of the crop. It starts at $33,650 and costs $3,200 more than the EX-L trim. It adds 19-inch wheels that look great but could hamper the ride quality. Plus, you get roof rails, chrome exhaust tips, and a hands-free power tailgate.

More convenience and tech features include a heated steering wheel, wireless phone charging pad, rain-sensing wipers, nine-speakers, speed-sensitive volume compensation, and satellite-linked navigation.

You can’t go wrong with any of the Honda CR-V trims, but the Special Edition model adds a lot of tech and convenience at a low price. It’s one heck of a well-rounded SUV option to consider unless you want a little more luxury or the hybrid powertrain.

The Nissan Versa is a compact car that starts in the budget price range. It’s not exactly known for its exciting powertrains or premium fit and finish. That said, for what it is it ticks virtually every expected box relative to other small cars in the class. In fact, the 2021 Nissan Versa actually won an award.

Consumer Guide awarded the 2021 Nissan Versa as a Best Buy in the compact car segment

The 2021 Nissan Versa earned the Best Buy badge from Consumer Guide this year. It also earned the title last year. In addition, the 2020 model year was named J.D. Power’s Most Appealing Small Car. So this little sedan has actually won a few awards and accolades in the past year or two.

This year, the Nissan Versa’s 2021 model year earned the Best Buy badge because it “boasts better passenger and trunk space, refinement, features, and even style than you might expect at its bargain prices.” In fact, it starts under $15,000. Redesigned for 2020, buyers get an all-new example of Nissan’s smallest four-door car.

Plenty of bang for the buck

In spite of shortcomings like the lack of leather upholstery or the option for extras like a sunroof or navigation system, the 2021 Nissan Versa is at the top of its class for offering loads of bang for the buck. Even Car and Driver report that the new Versa is “much better to drive than the version it replaces, providing accurate steering feel and consistent brake-pedal feedback.”

Plus, it got up to 40 mpg on the highway in Car and Driver’s “real-world fuel economy” testing. That is actually better than the EPA estimates for the 2021 Nissan Versa’s 122 hp four-cylinder. Overall, because of the incredibly low pricing, the 2021 Nissan Versa offers a specific appeal to budget buyers.

What is a compact car?

Other places like Car and Driver or U.S. News and World Report place the 2021 model year Nissan Versa in the subcompact car segment. Consumer Guide merely calls it “the smallest of Nissan’s compact cars.” Consumer Guide defines the compact car as “not too big, not too small, but just right.”

The modern compact car is larger than it once was. That means that they are capable of accommodating a small family while achieving impressive fuel economy. Plus, low pricing is generally expected in the mainstream compact car segment as well.

“The Nissan Versa straddles the line between the subcompact-car and compact-car classes; it’s priced like a subcompact, but it’s almost as large in some dimensions as the average compact car. However you categorize it, the Versa is an outstanding value; it offers a generous level of features and decent quietness and driving manners at very aggressive prices.”

The 2021 Nissan Versa is an ‘outstanding value’

Overall, the 2021 Nissan Versa isn’t thrilling. Nor does it offer any decadence with its simple interior. However, the total package is well executed for the price point.

For those in search of a decent car that won’t break the bank, the 2021 Nissan Versa is a good choice. It’s earned some admiration from critics. And even the fully-loaded range topping version comes in at under $20,000.

Electric vehicles are the automotive industry’s newest addition. Every major automaker has either produced or is actively working on a new electric vehicle for its lineup. This has resulted in some amazing creations like the Ford F-150 Lightning, Tesla Model S Plaid, and many more. With all the new EVs out, there is some big competition. The Ford Mustang Mach-E is the best EV this year.

Electric vehicles are supposed to be slow, impractical, and boring, right? Wrong! EVs are more exciting than ever before, thanks to new technology. They have unprecedented range, and speed consumers would have never expected. Ford is electrifying its fleet and changing the way consumers view some of its most legendary nameplates forever.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E isn’t your grandpa’s Mustang. Its design is unique, but it still shares some of the conventional Mustang’s best attributes. The Mach-E is a Mustang crossover SUV fitting in perfectly with America’s latest vehicle demands. An electric performance SUV is about as far as Ford can get from the original Mustang. The automaker manages to bring the nameplate into the future while still capturing the essence of what made it amazing in the first place.

The Mach-E combines Mustang performance with the novelty of an EV

The Ford Mustang Mach-E base model makes 266 horsepower. The GT performance trim makes a massive 480 horsepower, although it costs over $17,000 more than the base model. The base model can go 230 miles on a full charge. The California Route 1 trim has the furthest range at 305 miles.

The base model can go from 0-60 miles per hour in just 5.2 seconds. The Ford Mustang Mach-E also charges much faster than the average EV. Like Tesla, Ford has brought fun to EVs by creating a vehicle that is eco-friendly and enjoyable to drive.

The biggest challenge in the race to convert the auto industry to fully electric vehicles is not practicality, its consumers. The technology to create EVs that are practical enough to serve the average driver exists, and networks of electric chargers are being built. Automakers are gradually adding EVs to their lineups, so there is a wide variety to choose from.

As long as consumers can choose between gas-powered or electric vehicles, there will be some resistance. According to Car and Driver, the Ford Mustang Mach-E is this year’s best EV because it helps alleviate that resistance. The Mach-E is the perfect entry point to electric vehicles for consumers who think they are too slow or impractical.

Ford delivered exactly what consumers look for in a modern new vehicle. The Ford Mustang Mach-E is a sporty, luxurious SUV that incorporates new technology and makes driving pleasant. It also just happens to be an EV. The starting price for the base model is $42,895. A possible federal tax incentive can bring the base price all the way down to $35,395. The age of the EV is here, and the Mach-E is the perfect first car to embrace it with.
