The 20th anniversary of The Fast & The Furious is June 22, 2022. With that, the 1994 Toyota Supra was legendary and became popular even outside the car scene culture. This was one of eight Supra’s used for the movie and is only one of two used for filming that Paul Walker actually drove.

Who owns Paul Walker’s Supra?

The Toyota Supra that Paul Walker drove in The Fast and The Furious | Barret-Jackson

The 1994 Supra has hit the market a few times. It made the news back in May when it was reportedly going up for auction. Craig Lieberman was the Supra, R34 GT-R, and Maxima owner used in the first Fast & Furious movies (his Supra was the Hero 1 car). He decided it was time to move on and listed the Supra for sale through Barrett-Jackson. Lieberman actually predicted it would sell for “not a penny less” than $550k, which is exactly what it went for.

This Toyota Supra wasn’t the Hero 1 car, which is the main car used in the movie for scenes. The Hero 1 car lives in the Netherlands. Instead, this is Stunt 1 car, which is the stunt car producers used in the movie. That still makes it a pretty important artifact because this would be the one most used in the movie. The production also used this car in the movie Grandmas Boy, but someone wrapped it in gold for that appearance.

Another stunt Supra on set was a clone of the Hero 1 car that sold back in May of 2015 for $185,000.

How much is Paul Walker’s Supra?

Toyota Supra’s tend to retain value well, and since there are so few of these cars on the road, the price stays fairly high. For example, a 1995 Toyota Supra SE sold on Bring a Trailer for $50,000 back at the end of May 2021, while a modified 1993 Supra with a Turbo six-speed sold for $71,000 earlier in the month.

This car was purchased in Arizona back in 2000 and had the last four digits of the VIN as 9030. The Barret-Jackson link notes this Toyota Supra was a 2JZ-GTE 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine with an automatic transmission. It was listed as car number nine in the movie. It was also car number 22 in 2 Fast 2 Furious, the second film in the franchise. Lamborghini Diablo Candy Orange pearl was the chosen paint color. An APR aluminum biplane rear wing was also easily recognizable.

It was a black model with a factory areo top. This car cost around $24,000 and made it the most expensive of the eight Toyota Supra vehicles purchased. It had around 55,000 miles when purchased. The Barret-Jackson link doesn’t mention how many miles it had at the time of sale. There is a good chance that if the buyer sells this car again, it could net over $1 million. This is the only other Toyota Supra driven by Paul Walker, who died back in 2013.

More than you can affordpal

This Supra is special because Paul Walker actually drove it in the movie. For the second movie, the Supra was used again, and Production added a TRD widebody kit. Production did more modifications at that point because Paul Walker drove the car in the movie. He drove it in the opening street race sequence that the movies were famous for.

The orange Toyota Supra lived in Ted Moser’s Picture Car Warehouse, a famous storage facility for movie cars. The owner eventually restored it to its former Fast and Furious glory. Lieberman said it is a fairly accurate representation of the car moved in the movies.

Overall, this was a cool auction to see. Since the other Toyota Supra used is in a private collection in the Netherlands, this is essentially the only car of its kind. Supra’s are still going up in value and this one has had an exciting life. Congrats to the new owner!

It can be hard for families to find a vehicle that has an affordable price point and enough interior space. Cheaper vehicles also don’t always have many safety features, which can make shoppers uneasy. Fortunately, the latest Hyundai Accent offers just enough bang for its buck.

It was even featured on the Good Housekeeping list of Best New Family cars for 2021. True, a subcompact sedan can’t accommodate families with more than five passengers. Still, Good Housekeeping says there’s a lot for families to love on the Hyundai Accent.

The 2021 Hyundai Accent’s efficiency

A car that gets poor fuel economy can be a strain, especially when you have multiple family members. A day of appointments, errands, or round trips to school and work can really deplete your car’s tank in a hurry. With the CVT equipped, the Hyundai Accent is rated for 33/41 mpg city/highway.

The CVT is optional on the base trim, but standard for every other Accent. The Accent SE comes with a 1.6-liter four-cylinder that makes 120 hp, paired with a six-speed manual transmission. It’s only available with front-wheel drive, so it might not be suitable for families in northern areas.

The Hyundai Accent gets 29/39 mpg with the six-speed manual gearbox, which is still pretty good by class standards. According to Consumer Reports, drivers can only expect to pay an average of $870 for 12,000 miles worth of fuel.

Due to its smaller engine, the Hyundai Accent is best when used as a city commuter. It needs almost 10 seconds to reach 60 mph, making it a hassle to drive on the highway. However, Good Housekeeping reports that its ride quality remains smooth and quiet. It’s far from sporty to drive, but it has good brakes and light steering.

Every trim is a bargain

The standard Hyundai Accent only costs $15,395, or $16,495 if you want the more efficient CVT. For that price, you get a 5-inch center touchscreen, Bluetooth, and only one USB port. Despite comfortable seats, Good Housekeeping says the second row is slightly cramped. Still, the LATCH connectors for booster seats are easy to use and locate.

The Hyundai Accent also doesn’t have the biggest trunk, only around 14 cubic inches of space. You can squeeze in a little more cargo by using the split-folding rear seats, even if they don’t fold flat. It still has a low loading floor and a wide trunk opening.

If you feel like upgrading to the Hyundai Accent Limited, you can also get a power liftgate. Even though it’s the highest trim, it carries a starting price of merely $19,500. This model also includes some extra comfort features like automatic climate control and heated seats.

The middle trim, the Accent SEL, offers some much-appreciated convenience features. Smartphone integration, more USB ports, a bigger touchscreen, and a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel are included. This trim retails for $17,750.

How safe is the 2021 Hyundai Accent?

Unfortunately, the Hyundai Accent SE only offers a backup camera in terms of safety equipment. The Accent Limited comes standard with automatic emergency braking and forward-collision warning. Fortunately, the Hyundai Accent still has great crash-test scores according to the IIHS

It has a Good rating in every crashworthiness category besides passenger-side overlap collisions, where it gets an acceptable score. The headlights’ performance ranges from poor to acceptable. U.S. News also showcases its four-star overall rating from the NHTSA, plus a high predicted reliability rating.

Even on the highest trims, the Accent still lacks many of the features present on some rivals. Still, it’s hard for thrifty family leaders to pass up that sub-$16,000 price tag.

Unless you live in the South, sports car enthusiasts have it rough. You want to be able to enjoy your vehicle, but winter driving can get scary with no AWD. Fortunately, newer models like the Kia Stinger have been designed with more accessibility in mind for these drivers.

Nowadays, there are sports cars with optional AWD and safety features for drivers in hazardous weather. U.S. News shows that the Kia Stinger GT is one of the cheapest on the list, plus has a high score from critics. Is the Stinger really a good car for every season?

The Kia Stinger GT’s AWD system

The Kia Stinger doesn’t come standard with AWD, but you can add it to any trim for $2,200. Heated seats also come standard in every Stinger, another feature everyone appreciates during the snowy months. The Kia Stinger GT also has Brembo brakes that work better on wet, slushy roads.

Sizing up to the Kia Stinger GT1 nets you some extra safety features that might prove useful during a winter storm. Forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking can help prevent accidents on roads where ice has accumulated. The Kia Stinger GT2 features adaptive headlights that can help you see through even the heaviest snowfall.

The only downside to the 2021 Stinger’s winter capabilities is the decreased gas mileage. The EPA rates it for 17/25 mpg city/highway. The 2021 Kia Stinger GT-Line AWD’s mileage is basically unchanged, but it won’t benefit from the most powerful engine.

What about its performance?

The Kia Stinger GT has an upgraded engine, a twin-turbo V6 capable of 365 hp and 376 lb-ft of torque. It’s paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, which reportedly shifts just as quickly as the motor accelerates. The Stinger GT also adds a limited-slip differential.

According to MotorTrend, a Kia Stinger GT with AWD is a tad slower than one with FWD. AWD-equipped sedans can reach 60 mph in 5.1 seconds, while FWD models are 0.5 seconds quicker. However, testers were impressed that the Stinger with AWD required less braking distance.

Steering feels responsive on all kinds of roadways, especially around twisty turns. You can also expect a smooth ride from the suspension, even when there are some thick snowy patches under the wheels. However, MotorTrend notes that the Kia Stinger loses its momentum if it’s been pushed too hard.

Pricing for the Kia Stinger

U.S. News says the 2021 Kia Stinger GT retails for $41,790 if it’s equipped with AWD. If you don’t mind getting the base engine, the GT-Line AWD model only costs $37,290. The standard motor only makes 255 hp, but it’s still fast enough for most drivers.

For 2022, Kia eliminated the GT from the lineup entirely, but the GT1 and GT2 models are still available. The 2022 Stinger GT-Line now costs $36,090, but it can’t be optioned with AWD. Adding AWD brings the 2022 GT1’s cost to $45,890 and the GT2’s final cost to $53,490.

It’s a bit of an upcharge from last year, but the 2022 GT models are just as worth it. The 2022 models feature AWD with dynamic torque vectoring, which can turn itself off and on depending on road conditions. This can help drivers make up for the big drop in fuel economy when switching to AWD.

Both GT models still come with Brembo brakes and electronically controlled suspension, but the limited-slip differential is reserved for FWD models. Both of these trims also come standard with summer tires, which might need to be switched out during the winter. Even so, the Kia Stinger GT models can tackle snowy weather easily with the right equipment.

There’s no doubt that automakers borrow things from each other. If someone comes up with a new trend consumers are raving about, it won’t be long before other automakers are incorporating it into their lineup. It’s been suggested that Ford incorporates other automakers’ ideas into its vehicles, but the American automaker also likes to borrow from its own vehicles, and that’s what happened with the Ford Maverick

The Ford Bronco Sport has some stellar styling

The Ford Bronco Sport might not be able to take its top off like its bigger sibling, the Bronco, but it has some undeniably cool looking paint jobs. The colors are just the right amount of bright, and even the darker colors like the Oxford White, the Iconic Silver, and the Carbonized Gray managed to stand out.

The interior is quite the treat for the eyes as well. The active orange cloth interior looks worthy of a race car, with just the right amounts of orange. The bucking bronco emblem on the seats takes things to the next level, and makes you think you’re in a much more expensive vehicle.

So far, critics are raving about the Bronco Sport’s exceptionally good looks. That’s why it’s no surprise that Ford decided to borrow from this for the new Ford Maverick truck.

Is that a Bronco or a Maverick?

If all you caught was a quick glimpse of the paint style, you might mistake the Ford Maverick for the Ford Bronco. MotorTrend reports that the Maverick has quite a few of the same color options from the Bronco Sport such as Rapid Red, Shadow Black, Oxford White, Area 51, Cactus Grey, Carbonized Gray, Cyber Orange, Alto Blue, and Iconic Silver.

That’s not all that the Maverick shares with the Bronco. Both have the same front-wheel-drive chassis, which is available on the Ford Escape as well. The optional 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine that produces 250 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque was enough to help the Ford Bronco Sport win a drag race, so this is good for anyone who is looking for a small truck with some power behind it.

The Ford Maverick has some surprisingly good gas mileage

While it might seem easy to refer to the Ford Maverick as a copycat, it’s anything but that. In fact, there are a few things on the Ford Maverick that the Ford Bronco Sport doesn’t have, such as paint colors like Hot Pepper Red and Velocity Blue.

Something else that the Maverick has going for it is the insane gas mileage. For years, it was just assumed that trucks and SUVs had poor gas mileage. This kept many consumers from buying them, so automakers went back to the drawing board and figured out how to get superior mileage.

The 2022 Ford Maverick now gets 40 mpg, according to Motor1. This is thanks in large part to the Maverick’s hybrid 2.5-liter inline-four engine that produces 191 hp.

It’s four-door body style makes the Maverick a great choice for families who need to haul goods on a regular basis, but hate trying to squeeze everyone in. The inside is comfy enough, and comes equipped with an 8.0-inch infotainment screen.

Further standard features give the Maverick a very modern feel include wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a front and rear 12-volt power outlets and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi modem. For those focused on safety, the 2022 Ford Maverick comes standard with automatic emergency braking, post-collision braking, and automatic headlights and high beams.

All this is great, of course, but the best feature of all on the 2022 Ford Maverick is the price. The standard model costs a mere $19,995. This makes the Maverick the cheapest hybrid truck on the market, and the auto world will doubtless take notice.
