When car manufacturers release a hybrid version of one of their popular models, most people expect the two to look and feel relatively the same, despite a major difference in gas mileage. Interestingly, that rule of thumb doesn’t hold up when it comes to the 2021 Hyundai Sonata, at least in the eyes of one popular reviewing website. Learn more about the 2021 Hyundai Sonata and why the hybrid version scored a much higher interior quality score than the regular version.

The interior of the 2021 Hyundai Sonata vs. its hybrid counterpart

U.S. News released their picks of the 12 Most Comfortable Cars in 2021, and the 2021 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid made the list with an interior score of 7.9/10. Oddly, the regular 2021 Hyundai Sonata was nowhere to be found on the list, though the likely reason for this is its much lower interior quality score of 7.4/10. Are these vehicles really that much different inside to garner drastically different scores?

There aren’t many details about why the reviewers gave the hybrid a higher score, though the U.S. News review described the hybrid as roomy, while the non-hybrid review shows disappointment in the more cramped back seat. They also provided a brief description of the interior stating that the hybrid is made with high-quality materials; in contrast, the only feedback given for the non-hybrid model is that the interior is attractive and well-built.

Although the interior of these vehicles doesn’t seem drastically different, the materials and legroom must have been enough to propel the hybrid to get a half-point higher for interior quality than the non-hybrid Sonata

A closer look at the 2021 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid

When it comes to hybrid vehicles under $30,000 that give you everything you need, it’s hard to beat the 2021 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid. In fact, the only vehicle that received a higher overall score in this category on U.S. News is the 2021 Honda Accord, receiving 0.1 more points than the Sonata.

Many aspects go into these scores, but an extensive safety features list, high predicted reliability rating, and great performance culminated in an excellent overall score. There weren’t any major changes that came with the 2021 version of the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid, but one interesting optional feature is a solar roof. Hyundai claims that this solar roof can generate two more miles of range per day.

The 2021 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid starts at $27,750, whereas the non-hybrid starts at $23,700.

So, which is better?

When it comes to car-buying, there are rarely any hard and fast rules that apply to everyone. Each driver has their own unique set of preferences and needs, making it impossible to say one car is unequivocally better than the other.

When comparing the 2021 Hyundai Sonata and its hybrid model, the better choice for you depends on what you are looking for. If your priorities are a roomy and comfortable vehicle that gets excellent gas mileage, the hybrid may be a better choice. If, on the other hand, your main concern is the bottom-line price at the dealership, you may be better off with the non-hybrid model.

Both the hybrid and regular 2021 Hyundai Sonata provide about the same amount of power, but the regular version has a new N Line trim that packs a much larger punch. Instead of the 190ish-hp engine that comes in the standard Sonata and the hybrid, the N-Line trim comes equipped with a 290-hp turbocharged engine that accelerates smoothly and quickly and is much more fun to drive.

Of course, the N Line trim will set you back more than the hybrid would, so there are many factors to consider when deciding between the two models, and further, which trim you would want in each.

When purchasing a new car, everyone has different priorities and preferences, making it difficult to give sweeping recommendations for the “best” vehicles. For those who plan to spend lots of time on the road on road trips or long commutes, however, interior comfort is one of the most important things to look for. The 2021 Chrysler 300 is a classic car that alludes to a simpler time, but its interior quality and comfortable seating throughout make it an excellent choice for people who want a taste of luxury without breaking the bank.

U.S. News released its picks for the 12 Most Comfortable Cars in 2021, and the 2021 Chrysler 300 actually had one of the highest interior quality scores on the entire list with an 8.0/10. The reviewers praised the Chrysler 300 for the ample legroom in the front and back seats as well as the support that the seats provide to the driver and all passengers.

For those who want the best of the best no matter the cost, you can also opt to have Nappa leather upholstery installed, as well as heated front and rear seats, ventilated front seats, and many more comfort features that will make you never want to leave your car.

Another reason for a high interior quality rating is the Chrysler 300’s intuitive infotainment system that comes standard with numerous helpful and entertaining features.

It won’t be around forever

Chrysler 300 loyalists may be in for a major disappointment, as it is widely rumored that Stellantis, the maker of Chrysler, will eventually discontinue its manufacture. The good news is that there are currently plans to continue making the car at least until 2024, but only time will tell whether the 300’s lifespan will go beyond that.

Some believe that Stellantis will transition the Chrysler 300 to a hybrid or all-electric model after 2024, which may not be a bad investment given the momentous trends toward electric vehicles. Either way, if you feel personally attached to the continued manufacturing of the Chrysler 300, keep your fingers and toes crossed that it won’t be outright discontinued in future years.

An overview of the 2021 Chrysler 300

The Chrysler 300 is one of the most recognizable cars on the road, as it has so far stood the test of time. It was first released in 1955, and it delicately balanced luxury with practicality. In later iterations, many appreciated the power and control that came with full-size sedans, and the 300 has kept its punchy engine even in 2021.

The 2021 Chrysler 300 has its share of benefits and drawbacks. Its pros include the roomy interior, excellent infotainment system, and powerful engines that still beat out most of the competition today. On the other hand, the drawbacks aren’t minor enough to be easily glossed over. For starters, the gas mileage just isn’t up to par with today’s standards. 19 MPG in the city simply won’t cut it for the more eco-minded drivers of today.

The reviewers at U.S. News also note that the acceleration isn’t as smooth as competitors and that the 2021 Chrysler 300 got fairly poor safety scores. In this day and age, people prioritize safety more than ever, and even slight marks off for safety are enough to steer individuals and families away.

This isn’t to say that the 2021 300 is an inherently unsafe vehicle, but it just doesn’t have any of the standard safety features consumers have come to expect.

Even still, the 292-hp engine that comes with most versions delivers enough raw power to make some car enthusiasts overlook the drawbacks that come with this vehicle.

If you’re considering buying a brand-new electric crossover, chances are the 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 AWD Pro and Pro S have crossed your mind. Until now, we only had estimates on how efficient Volkswagen’s most powerful electric crossovers truly are. Based on a new release by the German carmaker, it seems the top trim models surpassed their estimated efficiency figures. Keep in mind. The AWD Pro model also has 100-hp more than the standard rear-wheel-drive model.

This report comes from Volkswagen’s latest press release detail the exact range and horsepower figures for the top models. Let’s take a look at the new official stats and how this crossover compares to its main competitor, the Tesla Model Y.

How far can the 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 AWD Pro go?

Now that we have official stats let’s start with the 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 AWD Pro. This model surpasses the base rear-wheel-drive model by adding an electric motor on the front axle. The front unit adds 107 hp and 11 lb-ft of torque to the 201 hp and 228 lb-ft output of the rear motos. This gets you a maximum horsepower figure of 295 hp, which translates into a 0-60 mph time of 5.7 seconds. While this isn’t the fastest crossover ever built, it’s still impressive given its status as a family hauler.

In terms of efficiency, you’re looking at 249 miles of electric range in the AWD Pro and 240 miles for the AWD Pro S. This is significant because these figures are still comparable to the RWD Pro’s 260-mile estimate, despite having an extra 107 hp available.

Aside from being efficient, the 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 AWD Pro makes good use of its added power and turns it into towing capacity. That’s because the standard model can tow up to 2,200 lb while the AWD Pro tops out at 2,700 with a braked trailer. As a result, you won’t sacrifice in range to get the extra capabilities.

How does it stack up to the Tesla Model Y?

Now that we know how much power the 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 AWD Pro develops, let’s see how it stacks up to a comparable Tesla Model Y. Given the price point, we’ll have to compare it to the base version of the Model Y. Although these crossovers look quite different, they share a similar spec sheet. That’s because the Model Y also utilizes a dual-motor setup. However, the Tesla manages to provide an even greater estimated electric range of 326 miles.

The same goes for the 0-60 mph time, which the Model Y can complete in 4.8 seconds compared to the 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 AWD Pro’s 5.7-second figure. If you equip the Tesa with an optional $1,200 Tow Package, it’ll give you a max towing rating of 3,500 lb.

Before we get too down on the Volkswagen, it is worth pointing out that it has an affordable ace up its sleeve.

Now that we’ve got the full stats for the 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 AWD Pro let’s see how much it costs. If you want the AWD Pro model, you’ll pay $43,675, or almost $10,000 less than the entry-level version of the Model Y. Upgrade to the Pro S model, and you’ll pay $48,175 to start. However, it is worth noting that all of these versions are still eligible for a $7,500 federal tax credit, something the Tesla is not. As a result, once you consider its specs and price point, the ID.4 is a strong contender.

The pickup segment is rife with options, even when it comes to new diesel trucks. For many, that can make shopping for a new diesel truck an overwhelming process. The good news is that it doesn’t have to be. In fact, TrueCar recently highlighted its picks for the best diesel trucks of 2021. Let’s find out what they are.

The 2021 Chevy Silverado is one of the best diesel trucks

The 2021 Chevy Silverado is a full-size pickup that starts at $29,300 and is available in a long list of capable trim levels. This year’s new Silverado is also one of the best diesel trucks of 2021, reports TrueCar.

For good reasons, too. As a matter of fact, its available turbo-diesel engine boasts a max towing capacity of 9,500-pounds. It also delivers an EPA-estimated 23 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway.

The ideal balance of towing power and fuel efficiency aren’t the only reasons TrueCar included the Chevy Silverado among the best diesel trucks of 2021 either. TrueCar also lauded the new diesel truck for its spacious interior and user-friendly features. In addition, it also praised the Silverado for its available Advanced Trailering System which features an in-vehicle trailering app with customized trailer profiles.

TrueCar also highlighted the 2021 Ram 1500 as one of the best new diesel trucks. This year’s new Ram 1500 can be had with a variety of engines under the hood. But if you’re in the market for a new diesel truck? You’re going to want a Ram 1500 equipped with a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 engine. Opt for this engine, and the Ram 1500 diesel will have you towing a maximum of 12,560-pounds.

The 2021 Ram 1500 has more to offer than a diesel engine. In fact, this year’s new Ram 1500 is a “full-size pickup truck with levels of comfort rare for the segment,” reports TrueCar. It boasts both a soft suspension and a quiet cabin, which reportedly gives the new diesel truck a “relaxing and upscale feel.” TrueCar isn’t the only one to think so either.

“The 2021 Ram 1500 isn’t the best pickup truck because it has the most “best-in-class” accolades but because it raises expectations for the entire breed. Pickups were once judged based on ruggedness rather than refinement. No longer. And this latest Ram, with its luxury-grade interior and cushy ride quality, easily exceeds even the fanciest versions of the Chevy Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, and Ford F-150.”
