Even though most of us grew up driving or at least knowing someone who drove a hammy-down Honda Civic as teenagers, we really don’t talk about these very much. Outside of the boy-racer tuners out there, the Civic really never gets love. The 2022 Honda Civic really isn’t any less plain than the older ones, but it deserves attention for these five reasons.

While the car market is in a near-constant state of blowing up these days, the 2022 Honda Civic is still holding us down. No matter how much disrespect we show the Civic, it just keeps coming back to be our ride-or-die set of wheels.

The 2022 Honda Civic is a little more fun

As Gear Patrol keenly points out, there isn’t much interest from manufacturers to invest in new internal combustion engines. This means many new cars like the 2022 Honda Civic rolled over the old 180-hp 1.5-liter engine into the new car. However, Honda did spend a boatload on chassis tuning and handling. The result is a spritely and sportier Civic than the previous model.

The Gear Patrol test driver mentions that the Civic’s CVT transmission is a bit of a bummer. It’s not that the Civic’s CVT, in particular, is bad or anything; in fact, it works plenty well. However, CVTs, in general, are just a bit boring and soulless.

The 2022 Civic has a lovely interior

Plenty of cars look nice on the outside, but the interior is cheap and plastic. This is especially true for cheaper cars and SUVs. Thankfully, the 2022 Civic is fitted with a simple yet thoughtful interior design. The fully loaded trim even comes with a sizable infotainment screen measuring 9 inches.

Due to some slick design elements like the honeycomb mesh material covering all the speakers and vents, the Civic’s interior feels more expensive than it is. According to Gear Patrol, even the knobs and switches feel solid and unique.

The Civic exterior is just as nice

Honda’s 2022 Civic got a bit of dress-up. Honda decided to go with a simpler but more upscale design aesthetic than previous models. The new look makes for a longer, lower-looking sedan that stretches everything out to look more sleek and refined. All that being said, it isn’t the most radical or sporty design we’ve ever seen, but the simple approach actually makes it look more upscale at this price point.

It is supremely practical

This is the Civic’s bread and butter. Simplicity and practicality are what made the Civic a favorite for all these long years. For such a small sedan, the 2022 Civic is actually really big inside. The seats offer plenty of cushion and legroom. The only issue here is the height might be tough for anyone with wobbly knees.

It may be a bit obvious, but Honda didn’t disappoint on the fuel economy either. The 2022 Honda Civic averages around the mid-30s on mpg.

The Civic is friendly in the price department

Aside from the killer gas mileage, the 2022 Honda Civic will also save you money at the dealership. The base-model Civic starts at $21,700. The top-tier Touring trim starts at $30,000. These prices also include the destination charge.

If you don’t like this, there’s more

So, you don’t like all this practicality, sensible pricing, and refined looks? Well, don’t worry. Honda will be releasing a few variations of the 2022 Civic. A hatchback model will surely come soon as well as the sporty Civic Si. Not to mention, the hottest of the line, the Honda Civic Type R, is also coming. The future of the Honda Civic is as bright as ever – and that is a good thing.

Are you considering renting a Lamborghini for a special occasion? Is a Lamborghini even a rental car? It certainly is. Renting supercars like a Lamborghini, Ferrari, or Porsche has become increasingly popular in recent years.

How much is it to rent a Lamborghini for a day?

The good news is renting a luxury SUV like Lamborghini Urus is pretty easy these days. The Lamborghini Urus costs over $220,000 when brand new. For $1,000 to $1,200 a day, the Urus can be yours to showboat all over town. The Urus has a top speed of around 180 mph and a V8 making more than 600 hp.

In the wrong hands, it makes sense this vehicle would lead to a terrible accident. When renting one of these supercars, there’s essentially no background check of any kind. On Turo, which is like the Airbnb of cars, you can rent a Lamborghini Urus for $1,080 a day. The owner might offer liability insurance, but not always. Drivers must be 21 years old, have a license, and must have proof of insurance.

This specific listing requires a $2,000 deposit for U.S. citizens, while a $5,000 deposit is required for those traveling internationally. A credit card in the driver’s name is also needed. That’s all. You can get your rented Urus delivered to your home and be on your way.

Turo isn’t just for supercars, either

Turo has all sorts of cars and supercars available, depending on the preferred location. The benefit of Turo is that the cars are usually centrally located and belong to regular people, so you’ll find Toyota Corollas, Jeep Grand Cherokees, and Cadillac Escalades.

You can rent a Lamborghini like the 2017 Lamborghini Huracan for $841 a day or a 2012 Gallardo for $584 a day. A 2014 Bentley Continental GT in Miami is $441 a day. You may also find a variety of Tesla vehicles like the Model S or Model Y.

Hertz offers a program called The Dream Collection for supercars and luxury vehicles in some countries like France, Italy, and Switzerland. Additionally, Hertz offers 40 locations at U.S. airports. These locations offer a Porsche Macan, Porsche 911, Nissan GT-R, and the Mercedes-Benz G550 G-Wagon.

Luxury car rental companies are an option

Depending on where you are, there are luxury car rental places that will rent you a vehicle from the fleet. One, for instance, is MVP Miami. Currently, a 2020 Rolls Royce Cullinan starts at $1,899. A Lamborghini Urus is $1,499. If you want a bright orange 2016 Lamborghini Huracan 610-4 Spyder supercar, it can be yours for $1,299.

To rent from a company such as this, there are a few stipulations. The renter has to have an active insurance policy in the driver’s name. Depending on the type of vehicle, a deposit of $1,000 to $7,000 is required.

Similar rules apply to most similar rental companies. One major thing to note is that the number of miles per day varies by company. MVP offers 100 miles a day for cars like Rolls Royce, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, and Ferrari. Any additional miles come at $4.00 each. Other vehicles have a bit more leeway with 150 miles a day and $3.00 a mile after that. So if you are picking up the Rolls Royce Cullinan, you better have a high credit limit.

Overall, there are a few options to rent the luxury car of your dreams. There are a few requirements before you drive off into the sunset, but it is possible. Rent a Lamborghini of your choice, but have your credit card ready.

Ten years ago, virtually any vehicle equipped with a digital infotainment system would’ve been defined as the pinnacle of luxury. With such advanced technology now commonplace in every class of car, the line between standard and luxury rides is getting harder to define. After all, every brand seeks to provide comfortable and safe trips for their drivers. As everyday brands get better and better at recreating luxury experiences, consumers begin to associate new logos with top-class titles. Founded in 1927, Volvo has long been a familiar name. Now, however, it’s finding itself placed among high-end competition.

Volvo was built for safety and practicality

From its Swedish inception, the Volvo brand was designed for pure practicality. It aimed to transport its passengers from point A to point B efficiently and safely. Even its name, Latin for “I roll,” implies the straightforward nature of the company: it made cars. They rolled.

The original designs of the vehicles, according to Volvo’s website, were crafted with the goal of protecting passengers from Sweden’s harsh climate. Much of the first branding scheme behind the cars was based on strength, with its logo depicting the Swedish symbol for iron.

The cars had such a reputation for standard reliability, in fact, that they were commonly used as delivery trucks or transport vehicles. The solid body of the car became synonymous with business and work. Although the early Volvos were not uncomfortable by any means, they didn’t make much of an effort to extend beyond what they claimed to be: a car.

Some think the brand has made the jump to luxury

Of course, any company that has been in existence for nearly 100 years is bound to go through some transformations. Business Insider asserts that Volvo always had the potential to be a more luxurious vehicle, noting its foray into the genre as early as 1933. This classy vehicle, dubbed the PV 654, came with “an upgraded, plush interior, twin spare tires and a reversing light.”

The goods manufacturing slow-down that accompanied World War II saw Volvo halt their car production. When they came back to the market, it was with the PV60 — a safer option that returned to their classic roots. It wasn’t until 1968, the year of the PV 164 and its leather interior, that Volvo made another play for the luxury market. What followed was an era of the S90 — a boxy wagon sometimes completed with velour seating and a limousine upgrade.

Ford’s takeover of the brand in 1999 took it back to the basics. The S80 was a standard and safe sedan that served as the company’s flagship for many years and model generations. Recently, however, Volvo has relaunched the S90 as a super-sized, swagged-out S80 that may finally earn Volvo the luxury stamp of approval.

Volvo remains humble and true to its roots

The S90, along with supercars like the XC60, has offered amenities and features that have long been associated with the luxury class. The brand has honed in on providing a quiet ride, with plush interiors. With the standard XC90 starting at $48,000, Volvo’s price tags are also starting to point to a more high-end audience.

Volvo itself has yet to proclaim itself as “luxury,” however. They asserted in a press release that the brand “defines its own version of luxury.” Björn Annwall was quoted as saying, “We have always approached design and the entire car experience from a human perspective, and I believe that this is what makes our cars increasingly relevant.”

This focus on the human consumer continues to be reflected in their tremendous safety standards. And while peace of mind is priceless to some, others still assert that the Volvo lacks the engine power to truly roar onto the luxury scene.

The 2022 Acura MDX has been revealed and it’s making waves. After taking a year off of making the MDX, Acura came back with a better model than ever. If you’re in the market for a midsize luxury SUV, you’re probably looking at the MDX and the 2021 Audi Q7. How do you decide between them? Let’s compare the safety in the Acura MDX vs the Audi Q7.

2021 Audi Q7 | Audi

Which is safer: the Acura MDX vs the Audi Q7

Every year the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety tests a whole bunch of cars to see which ones are safe. They perform a variety of crash tests that simulate real life crash scenarios. Although both the MDX and the Q7 did well in each of these tests, only the 2022 Acura MDX took home an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award.

To get an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award, a vehicle must get a good score in all of the IIHS crashworthy ratings. The vehicle must also get a good or higher in the roof strength and head restraint tests. Additionally, the vehicle must have an advanced or superior for both the vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian accident avoidance systems. It also must get an acceptable good headlight rating for all standard headlights, not just available ones.

What makes the 2022 Acura MDX so safe?

The 2022 Acura MDX did all of this. It got a good score in all of the crashworthiness categories, including small overlap front: driver-side and passenger side, as well as moderate overlap crash tests and side crash tests.

The 2021 Audi Q7 also got all good crash test ratings, and they both did well in the roof strength tests. The 2022 Acura MDX had a strength-to-weight ratio of 5.06, and the 2021 Audi Q7 had a strength-to-weight ratio of 5.0. These are both better than the minimum required for a good rating, which is 4. The IIHS finds the strength-to-weight ratio by crushing the SUVs five inches. This is important in the event of a rollover; you don’t want the roof to give in easily.

Even though both SUVs do well in all of these tests, there’s one area where the Q7 falls short: headlights. All of the headlights in various Q7 trim levels tested by the IIHS received poor ratings. The IIHS noted that they had poor visibility and that there was a glare. These sorts of things contribute to the likelihood of a crash. If you can’t see an object in front of your car, you can’t avoid it.

How are the accident avoidance in the Acura MDX vs the Audi Q7?

Other accident avoidance features were good in both the MDX and the Q7. They both have all of the advanced safety features that Consumer Reports recommends car shoppers look for. These things, systems like pedestrian detection and forward collision warning, reduce the chances that you’ll be in an accident. Having all of them is definitely an advantage.

When it comes down to it, the 2022 Acura MDX is the better midsize luxury SUV. Even though they have similar crash test ratings, good headlights in all trim levels of the 2022 Acura MDX is a huge selling point. If you’re on a dark, isolated road and a deer runs in front of your SUV, you want to be able to see it. In the 2022 Acura MDX, you have a better chance.
