As of this writing, GMC does not have plans to release a production version of the Canyon AT4 OVRLANDX Off-Road Concept. The purpose behind the creation of the Canyon AT4 OVRLANDX Off-Road Concept is to demonstrate how it can be customized to enhance its off-road credentials and capabilities. The Canyon AT4 OVRLANDX Off-Road Concept also gives customers a glimpse into the vision that GMC has for its expanding lineup of SUVs and trucks.

Off-road features in the Canyon AT4 OVRLANDX Off-Road Concept

The GMC Canyon AT4 OVRLANDX Off-Road Concept comes well-equipped with a plethora of off-road features to help it overcome the challenges of wilderness excursions. For handling the wear and tear of bumpy surfaces, it has a wide off-road chassis, which is aided by its fortified underbody coverage. To help keep the Canyon AT4 OVRLANDX Off-Road Concept from running into low-hanging branches and damaging the windshield, it features guy lines. 

The Canyon AT4 OVRLANDX Off-Road Concept has a spare tire that is mounted on the back of the vehicle. For easy access to the bed of the AT4 OVRLANDX Off-Road Concept, the tire mount conveniently swivels. Additional off-road enhancing features of the GMC Canyon AT4 OVRLANDX Off-Road Concept include wheel flares with integrated task lamps, off-road rocker panel protectors, dampers, integrated front recovery points, and cast-iron control arms. This is further complemented by a heavy-duty front bumper with winch, an AEV rear off-road bumper, traction boards, an off-road jack and mount, and cast-iron control arms.

This includes a roof-mounted tent, a kitchenette, a cooler, Jerry cans for water or gasoline, a 270-degree awning, a stainless steel truck bed cap, a truck bed storage with a drawer system, and a solar panel.

Midsize pickup truck enthusiasts may be disappointed to learn that it’s unlikely that there will be a production version of the Canyon AT4 OVRLANDX Off-Road Concept. However, it at least shows the possibilities for off-road and utility enhancement if one is ambitious with customization.
