2027 Ford Super Duty Engine Shakeup: One V8 Gone, Godzilla Loses Torque

The 2027 Ford Super Duty is getting a major engine shakeup. Ford is dropping the 6.8-liter gasoline V8, making the 7.3-liter Godzilla V8 standard and cutting the Godzilla engine's torque by 40 pound-feet.

We examine the new horsepower and torque ratings, the disappearance of the standard-output Power Stroke diesel, Ford's explanation for the changes and the EPA Tier 4 emissions rules that can apply to trucks above 8,500 pounds. Ford also confirmed that the 7.3-liter V8 will not receive a gasoline particulate filter.
