Why not take one of the more expensive Lamborghini cars available and make it into a Batmobile? Well, that’s exactly what happened with this Lamborghini Gallardo that one group turned into a Batmobile. That was all fun and games until it crashed in France somewhere.

Is the Batmobile a Lamborghini Gallardo?

A few years ago, Team Galag drove a Lamborghini Gallardo-based Batmobile in the Gumball 3000 Rally race. The team brought on designer and manufacture Caresto to build the Batmobile of the team’s dreams. The Drive notes that Caresto used a Lamborghini Gallardo drivetrain for the vehicle, a pretty wild base to start a car from.

This Gallardo had a 5.2L V10 engine that got around 560 hp. The Batmobile had a top speed of just around 200 miles per hour. The rest of the car was based on the Batmobile from the Arkham Knight video game. If that’s the case, the company nailed it. From the flat-black paint job and huge tires, it looks quite similar. One difference is that the Gallardo got some extra carbon fiber bodywork and extra electronics since this would actually be driven around.

According to Business Insider, Caresto actually used a computer to create a full-size car body model to recreate it correctly. The company made the entire thing out of carbon fiber to keep it more lightweight. It measured about 11 ft long by 8 ft wide.

What happened with the Lamborghini Gallardo Batmobile crash?

The Lamborghini Gallardo Batmobile accident

Since this wasn’t some random car hobbled together in a driveway, this one hurts. The Lamborghini Gallardo Batmobile got into an accident that ended the reign of this supercar. YouTuber Sebastian Delanney was the driver of the Batmobile at the time of the crash. The car and driver were on the way to a Cars and Coffee event in France at the time. In a wreck with a Renault Scenic, the Batmobile met its fate.

The good news is that since this Batmobile was actually made from a Gallardo and was built by professionals, it was a fairly solid car. It also had some tube frame to protect drivers and passengers, likely due to the nature of the Gumball Rally.

Unfortunately, there isn’t much information about what happened to the Batmobile after the accident. There is a bit of confusion based on what actually happened. Some folks say it was a low-speed accident at a stop sign. The photo above is not the result of such an accident. The photos show a pretty decimated front end on the Batmobile, which doesn’t add up.

The video where Delanney explains the accident is now private on his YouTube channel. The reports are all in French and don’t have much information. Where did it go? Why hasn’t the Batmobile been seen since that day? The Batmobile crash is surrounded by mystery, just as Batman would have wanted. Probably.

A new version of Batman’s car is on the way

There have been a lot of random vehicles that turned into Batmobiles. In 2016, Jeep ran a commercial for the new Renegade that played the Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice theme song. That wasn’t a Batmobile. In the original comic, the car was based on a 1936 Cord. The Batmobile changed as the comic moved through the decades.

With the new film titled The Batman slated to hit theaters next year, there is a new Batmobile on the way. It appears to be some mix of Ford Mustang, Dodge Challenger, and Chevrolet Camaro all in one. It isn’t clear exactly what it is yet, but we expect it to be pretty cool.

For many folks, sedans are a great, affordable option that’ll allow them to go from point A to point B without much fuss. That said, since sedans are usually small cars, they can be quite cramped, especially for taller people. However, the brand-new 2021 Subaru Legacy isn’t a cramped sedan, and it’s in fact quite spacious.

The 2021 Subaru Legacy is affordable and spacious

When it comes to roomy sedans, most of them are probably going to be luxury sedans or big, full-size cars. Those attributes will also generally mean a pretty expensive car, but that’s not the case for the Legacy. In fact, according to U.S. News, the Legacy is not only spacious, but it’s also quite affordable. That’s because the Legacy has a starting price tag of just under $23,000, which means that customers won’t have to break the bank to get the car.

As far as its interior space goes, it’s surprisingly spacious as well, even compared to its more expensive counterparts. U.S. News said that the Legacy has 42.8 inches of front legroom and 39.5 inches of rear legroom. Those are better numbers than the 2021 Lexus ES, which, since it’s a Lexus, starts at about $40,000. In fact, U.S. News said that when it comes to just front legroom, the Legacy’s actually near the top.

The Legacy’s cargo capacity is also pretty impressive, according to U.S. News. The Legacy has 15.1 cu. ft. of trunk space, which is about average for its class. However, what impressed U.S. News was how big the Legacy’s trunk opening was. The size of the Legacy’s trunk opening allows folks to more easily load cargo into the Legacy’s trunk.

A luxury grade interior

Although the Subaru Legacy starts at a very affordable price tag, U.S. News called its interior design “luxury-grade.” Subaru didn’t line the interior up with fancy materials, but Subaru did design it well, build it well, and equip it well.

For example, the Legacy has a 7.0-inch touchscreen display as standard, and according to U.S. News, it also has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility as standard. That touchscreen is connected to Subaru’s infotainment system, Starlink, and U.S. News said that it was “easy to use.”

More importantly, though, Subaru gave the Legacy a lot of standard smart safety features. These features will allow folks to be safer on the road at no extra cost. Some of the standard smart safety features that are on the Legacy include lane departure warning, forward automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control, just to name a few things.

The 2021 Subaru Legacy’s pricing and trim levels

At a starting price of about $23,000, the Subaru Legacy makes a very compelling case for itself as is. But of course, Subaru offers options that’ll allow customers to pick and choose the right Subaru for them. For the Legacy, in particular, there are five trims available. They are the Premium, the Sport, the Limited, the Limited XT, and finally, the Touring XT.

The Premium starts at about $25,000, the Sport starts at about $27,000, the Limited starts at about $30,000, the Limited XT starts at about $34,000, and the Touring XT starts at about $36,000. Each trim will have changes from the last, and some potential upgrades include leather upholstery instead of cloth, a dual-zone automatic climate control system, and an 11.6-inch touchscreen display.

The most expensive trims will also have a more powerful turbocharged engine. The standard engine gets about 182 hp, which U.S. News called decent. However, the turbocharged engine gets 260 hp, which makes the Legacy far more capable on the road.

Imagine that, Paris Hilton had a car that is expensive to maintain. Back in 2006, the Mercedes SLR McLaren was the perfect IT car for the IT girl. Remember that photo of Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, and Lindsay Lohan out for a night on the town? That was in this car. However, now that times have changed, what is it like to own an SLR McLaren as a normal person?

How much is a Mercedes SLR McLaren?

Paris Hilton had a Mercedes McLaren SLR, but the maintenance prices are wild, even for her | Victor Malafronte/Getty Images

Back in the day, Motor1 says Ms. Paris Hilton paid about $460,000 for her brand new 2006 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren. Motor1 noted that a similar 2006 model recently sold for $180,000 at an online auction. Checking CarGurus online, there are a few listed between anywhere from $295,000 and $335,000. DuPont Registry has some similarly priced vehicles.

If we base the depreciation values on the cited $180,000 SLR, the car has lost around $18,000 in value per year. Based on some of the more expensive options, it still lost around $11,000 per year.

Those who are out there buying an SLR McLaren probably are not concerned with the price of maintenance, but that doesn’t get any better. Since this car is hard to find and fairly expensive to start, the maintenance is quite astronomical.

Just how bad is the repair cost for the SLR?

When Hoovies Garage took this SLR in for service, the costs were pretty wild. The SLR needed a lot of maintenance and various things fixed because it is an older car. The SLR only had about 2,000 miles on it, but this was likely one of the first major services performed. And boy, did it need some services performed.

For the A service alone, it was $2,105. The shop wanted to put a power steering pump in it for $2,220 or a $6,270 steering rack to fix whatever issue the car was having.

The wipers were $105, likely the most reasonable item on the list. A used replacement for a bent front wheel was $1,899. Two new batteries needed a replacement for $1,350. Another piece under the hood, not specified, was $3,405. Replacing the weatherstripping was $1,350.

A replacement strut to help open those fancy doors costs $2,500. Brake line mounts were $1,300. A washer nozzle was $500. Some missing sensors cost $1,700. The fuel cap tether was $100. A tire fixing kit was $215. Brake caliper cooling ducts were $1,250. The shop replaced a rear differential drain plug piece for $850.

That doesn’t even count everything that needs to be replaced based on the length of time. A brake flush is $1,200. The rotors weren’t recommended for replacing but cost about $20,000. In total, it was about $34,000 for all of the bits and pieces needing replacement. The SLR only had about 2,000 miles on it, so this was likely one of the first major services performed.

How many Mercedes SLR McLaren were made?

The Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren was a joint venture between Mercedes and McLaren from 2003 through 2009. It was the first car that AMG got to design on its own from the Mercedes AMG partnership. SLR, in this case, stood for “Sport Leicht Rennsport” (Sport Light Racing), according to Wikipedia. It was loosely based on the Mercedes 300 SLR, which was the official inspiration. Mercedes created only about 2,157.

So if this car was on your list of cars to buy, perhaps take it off the list. Unless you like $40,000 maintenance bills, which you might.

When it comes to space, sedans probably aren’t going to be that roomy compared to something like an SUV. With that being said, there are some big sedans on the market, and some of them are very spacious. Here’s a look at the 2021 BMW 7 Series, which may just be the roomiest sedan on the market this year.

The 2021 BMW 7 Series is the roomiest sedan of them all

According to U.S. News’ list of the roomiest sedans of the year, the BMW 7 Series took home the top prize. It is the roomiest sedan of the year, but just barely. U.S. News said that the 7 Series has 41.4 inches of front legroom and 44.4 inches of rear legroom, and those specs were slightly better than the runner-up, the 2021 Audi A8.

U.S. News wrote that the A8 has 41.5 inches of front legroom and 44.3 inches of rear legroom, so overall, it was a pretty close race between those two German luxury sedans. That said, both the 7 Series and the A8 are significantly roomier than the car that got third place. The 2021 Honda Accord came in third, and it has 42.3 inches of front legroom but only 40.4 inches of rear legroom.

So, due to that size difference, U.S. News declared that the 7 Series is the roomiest sedan of the year. However, it’s not just a spacious car, it’s also a very luxurious BMW.

An overview of the 2021 BMW 7 Series’ luxurious interior

To be clear, according to U.S. News, the BMW 7 Series is roomy in other ways too. This is because of its above-average cargo capacity, which tops out at about 18.2 cu. ft. U.S. News said that the 7 Series’ trunk was one of the largest trunks available for a sedan, but obviously it doesn’t really compare against the cargo capacity of an SUV.

What does compare, however, is just how luxurious the 7 Series’ interior is. U.S. News wrote that the 7 Series has a “stylish interior,” and that BMW used “quality materials” for most of the cabin.

Furthermore, not only does the 7 Series have spacious seats, but those seats are fairly luxurious too. That’s because the 7 Series has leather upholstery, heated front seats, and heated front armrests – all as standard.

There are options that’ll improve the 7 Series’ comfort levels as well. For example, BMW offers an optional rear center console as well as a rear foot rest. As far as technology goes, the 7 Series is also very advanced. It comes with a 10.2-inch touchscreen display as standard as well as a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a navigation system. There are also plenty of high-tech safety features, such as a surround-view parking camera system and automatic emergency braking, just to name a few things.

The 2021 model will cost you a lot

Due to all of those standard features and more, the BMW 7 Series is not going to be a cheap or affordable car. It’s a BMW after all, and as such, it will be rather expensive to buy and own.

U.S. News said that the 7 Series starts at almost $87,000, and of course, there are plenty of options that’ll increase its price. The most expensive configuration, the M760i, will cost well over $150,000. But obviously, it’ll include upgrades that’ll make that price tag reasonable.

That said, since it’s a BMW, most of those changes have to do with the 7 Series’ performance. However, BMW does offer a few options that’ll improve the car’s interior. For example, a rear-seat infotainment system is available, and it’ll feature two 10-inch touchscreens and a tablet, according to U.S. News.
