While some EVs are affordable for everyone, other EVs are more expensive and luxurious. The 2020 Porsche Taycan 4S is one of those expensive and luxurious EVs, and it has the power and performance to compete with the best. However, the 2020 Porsche Taycan 4S can’t overtake its Tesla counterpart just yet.

The pros and cons of the 2020 Porsche Taycan 4S

Off the bat, since the Taycan 4S is a Porsche, it’s not going to be cheap. It has a starting price tag of over $100,000, according to Car and Driver. On top of that, it can be pretty expensive to properly equip the Taycan 4S, as the one Car and Driver drove cost over $140,000. Regardless, it’s a very capable car.

It comes with all-wheel drive, two electric motors, and a 71-kWh battery pack. There is also a roughly $6,600 upgrade option that will give the Taycan 4S an 83.7-kWh battery instead. When properly equipped, those motors give the Taycan 4S about 562 hp, as well as a max range of about 227 miles.

That’s not a lot of range, but at least the Taycan 4S is as fast as any other Porsche. Car and Driver wrote that it can go from 0 to 60 MPH in about 3.4 seconds. On top of that, it also handles quite well, and, at least according to Car and Driver, it’s a stylish car with a well-made interior.

The pros and cons of the 2021 Tesla Model S

While the Porsche Taycan 4S can get pretty expensive, the Tesla Model S is a significantly more affordable car than the Porsche. Car and Driver tested the Model S Long Range Plus, which is the base version of the Model S nowadays. The Model S costs slightly more than $70,000, which means that customers could, technically speaking, buy two Model S for the price they could spend on a well-equipped Taycan 4S.

As far as power and performance go, the Tesla is also pretty great. The Model S also has two motors and combined, they provide about 557 hp. The Model S, however, has a 103.9-kWh battery, and this huge battery gives the Model S a longer range. That battery gives the Model S just over 400 miles of estimated range, according to Car and Driver, and that’s simply impressive for an EV.

Despite the bigger battery, the Model S is pretty quick, as it can go from 0 to 60 MPH in 3.5 seconds. However, the Model S isn’t a perfect car, as Car and Driver wasn’t impressed by its interior. Car and Driver said that the Model S, like other Teslas, have a “poor fit and finish,” as well as “bland steering.”

The Tesla Model S clearly beats the Porsche Taycan 4S

Although the Porsche Taycan 4S clearly has the nicer interior, very few people buy cars just for how fancy they are on the inside. Most people just look at the numbers, and when it comes to the numbers, the Tesla Model S completely dominates the Taycan 4S.

Not only is the Model S significantly more affordable, but it’s also significantly more practical. While the Porsche Taycan 4S’s range is enough for city driving, the Model S’s range allows it to do far more on a single charge. Furthermore, Car and Driver said that due to how many Tesla Superchargers there are, recharging the Model S is simply going to be easier.

Another area where Tesla wins is in space. Car and Driver said that the Model S has 28 cu. ft. of total cargo capacity, while the Taycan 4S only has 16 cu. ft. As such, while the Taycan 4S may be better on the track, the Model S is simply better in real life.

Sir Elton John is a living legend, as is his 1972 Ferrari “Daytona” 365 GTB/4. Like many performers of his status, he didn’t get to where he is by wearing khaki slacks and driving a Toyota Camry. In fact, his wild and fabulous stage wear and driving a vintage Ferrari Daytona is a huge piece of his image and, in turn, success. If you care to own a part of the legend, Elton John’s 1972 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona is headed for the auction block.

Elton John’s vintage Ferrari will Crocodile Rock your socks off

According to Silodrome, any self-respecting car nerd will tell you that calling this Ferrari a “Daytona” is a bit of a misnomer. This vintage Ferrari is technically a 1972 Ferrari 365 GTB/4. After it was introduced in 1968, the 365 GTB/4 was given the Daytona name because it got a 1-2-3 finish in the 24 Hours of Daytona in 1967.

Supposedly, old man Ferrari himself was into using the nickname for 365 GTB/4, and as a result, Ferrari as a whole rarely uses the Daytona name in reference to the car. However, colloquially, the name has stuck, and plenty of people use it these days.

During the mid-to-late ‘60s, Enzo Ferrari fostered a great many rivalries. We are all aware of the Ford Vs. Ferrari after the film, but Ferrari was also beefing with Ferruccio Lamborghini. The long and the short of it is that in 1966, the Lamborghini Miura dropped and shocked the world. It was low, sleek, beautiful, and faster than greased lightning.

Not to be outdone, Ferrari sent the team to work to build something better than the Miura. A mid-engined V12 powered the little Bull. Ferrari famously wasn’t into the mid-engine placement, so the 1968 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 came with a front-mounted 4.4-liter Colombo V12 producing 347 hp and capable of 174 mph – exactly 3 mph faster than the Miura.

Let’s look at the Elton John’s vintage Ferrari Daytona

According to Silodrome, Elton John either took ownership of this 1972 Ferrari in 1972 or 1973. 1973 might make the most sense on account of that being Elton John’s breakthrough year. He released Don’t Shoot Me I’m Only the Piano Player and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, which were both hit records in 1973.

Elton John’s Ferrari 365GTB/4 is a right-hand-drive version of which Ferrari only ever made 158 examples. This particular Ferrari is not only Elton John’s and a super-rare English spec, but it is also in what is arguably the best configuration – Rosso Chiro with a Nero interior.

Aside from the Elton John authentication, Ferrari also recently added this car to its “red Book” status. This means Ferrari experts have thoroughly inspected this vintage Ferrari Daytona to verify its originality.

How much is Elton John’s vintage Ferrari Daytona worth?

Sir Elton John’s vintage 1972 Ferrari Daytona 365GTB/4 Will roll across the Silverstone Auction block on June 5th of this year. The projected value is said to be between $620,000-$700,000.

If recent car auctions have shown us anything, it wouldn’t be too surprising to see the vintage Ferrari go for even more money.

Genesis, which is Hyundai’s luxury brand, is pulling all the stops to break into the luxury sedan market. The 2022 Genesis G70 is one of Genesis’ offerings for the luxury sedan segment, and it makes a compelling case for itself. Here’s a look at the 2022 Genesis G70 and why it may be a great option for your next luxury sedan.

The 2022 Genesis G70 is quite affordable

Off the bat, like Car and Driver said, the Genesis G70 is priced very aggressively. At a starting price tag of about $38,000, the G70 is less expensive than its competitors, especially the ones from German automakers. For example, the BMW 3 Series starts at about $41,000, and the Audi A4 starts at about $39,000.

With that being said, since it’s a luxury sedan, there’s a good chance that customers will want to upgrade their G70. But, like Car and Driver wrote, even with an expensive trim as well as the $8,200 Sport Prestige package, the G70 comes out at a price tag of about $53,000. That price tag is still very affordable for any luxury car shopper, and once again, it’s even more affordable compared to the G70’s compact competitors.

A sedan that’s a lot of fun to drive

The standard Genesis G70 comes with a 2.0-liter turbocharged I-4 engine, and it gets 252 hp. However, Car and Driver test drove the top-tier twin-turbocharged 3.3-liter V6, and that particular engine gets 365 hp and 375 lb-ft of torque. Car and Driver said that the G70’s V6 helps makes the car “engaging and entertaining.”

As far as speed goes, the standard I-4 engine can go from 0 to 60 MPH in about 6.2 seconds, while the twin-turbo V6 does it in 4.3 seconds. In terms of top speed, the G70 can top out at about 167 MPH when equipped with the V6.

And when it comes to fuel economy, the G70’s also not terrible as it gets between 20 and 24 MPG combined, depending on the engine.

There are also many optional sporty features that make the G70 a very powerful and fun to drive sedan. That being said, what also matters is how the G70 stacks up to its peers. And in that regard, Car and Driver said that the G70 is still as sporty as its luxury compact rivals, despite being on the more affordable end of the spectrum.

How the 2022 Genesis G70 makes a convincing case

While the Genesis G70 is still as high-performance as it used to be, this new model year also makes some big changes to the interior and exterior of the car. Not only is it more stylish on the outside, but it’s also more stylish on the inside. Despite the fact that it’s equipped with a 10.3-inch touchscreen display, the layout of the G70’s interior made Car and Driver say that “it feels old-fashioned in the best way.”

In addition to that big touchscreen, Genesis has outfitted the G70 with a host of smart features without cluttering the dashboard. Not only does the G70 have wireless phone charging, but there are also a ton of smart safety features that includes, among other things, adaptive cruise control.

That being said, the G70 isn’t a perfect car. After all, it’s a compact luxury sedan, so it’s not going to be very spacious, especially in terms of the rear seats. However, the G70’s rear-seats can fold down, and that’ll give the car about 11 cu. ft. of cargo capacity. In any case, due to the price tag, the performance, and the luxury that the G70 offers, it makes a compelling case for anyone who’s looking for a brand-new luxury compact sedan.

The thing about Tesla founder Elon Musk is that he’s not a one-size-fits-all kind of guy. He comes up with disparate ideas and businesses and at some point, they blend. Like SpaceX and Tesla. Or Tesla and Dogecoin. They tie into each other and feed off of each other. So it is no surprise that something as unrelated as Tesla and drive-in restaurants come from the same mind.

And that is what Musk is looking at now. Just last week Tesla filed patent and trademark applications for “T” (as in Tesla) and the Tesla stylized logo for food industry use. Specifically  “restaurant services, self-service restaurant services, and take-out restaurant services.”

Why does Tesla want to get into drive-in restaurants?

If approved they will go live once Tesla puts them into use. In recent times Musk tweeted, “Major new Supercharger station coming to Santa Monica soon! Hoping to have 50’s diner & 100 best movie clips playing too. Thanks, Santa Monica city!”  And there you have it.

And these types of entertainment time killers are how entire theme parks have been created in the past. Take Knotts Berry Farm in Buena Park, California. In the 1930s it was a chicken dinner restaurant. It was so popular people waited hours to get in.

So a carousel was put in for the kids. Then another ride to help fill time while the adults waited in line for dinner. It morphed in the 1950s into an amusement park that also happened to have a great chicken dinner restaurant nearby.

This isn’t a typical trademark application

We’re not saying that will happen in Santa Monica. But you never know with Musk. Besides, this isn’t a typical trademark application. According to investor Steven Kamali to Automotive News, these types of trademarks are used for brands that plan on franchising.

So already there appear to be larger plans than a little drive-in next to a charging station. “Sophisticated investors often secure the intellectual property by filing for a trademark,” said Kamali, who founded Hospitality House, a food and beverage agency, and The Chef Agency, an executive search firm for the food industry. “It helps deter others from impeding on their mark and ultimately competing with them. It also signals that they anticipate large-scale growth with the proposed brand and concept.”

Elon Musk’s brother owns a restaurant group operating in three states

And there is a Musk family tie-in. Elon Musk’s brother Kimball owns a restaurant group operating in three states. Kimball was also on the board of Chipotle Mexican Grill. So what inexperience in the restaurant business Elon provides, his brother is entrenched in.

It may take a while before Musk’s vision of a restaurant/charging station becomes reality. Business and building permits take time in places like Santa Monica. But you can already see how something as disparate as building cars and opening restaurants ties together when Musk is pulling the strings.
