Off-road vehicles are stylish and fun to drive. And two of the most popular among the bunch are the GMC Hummer and Jeep Wrangler. That naturally invites comparisons. So it’s reasonable to wonder whether the new Hummer will have removable doors like the Wrangler. Well, it won’t. That might disappoint some fans, but it doesn’t mean the 2022 GMC Hummer won’t offer plenty for adventurers to enjoy.

The Hummer has traveled a long and winding path

2022 GMC Hummer EV | General Motors

AM General introduced the Hummer. It was designed as a civilian version of the M998 Humvee, the “High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle.” Going over rough terrain is what this off-roading monster was made for.

In 1999, General Motors purchased the rights from AM General and, in 2002, began producing and selling the H2 Hummer, History reports. After several years, GM discontinued the gas-guzzler in 2010. And now, General Motors is bringing back a new and improved version, the GMC Hummer EV. This one is built on the BT1 electric truck platform.

In the fall of 2022, the Hummer will reveal a makeover that promises to appeal to all lovers of luxury. But one thing this SUV will be missing is the removable doors that its biggest competitor boasts, The Drive reports

Why won’t the 2022 GMC Hummer EV have removable doors?

The lead Hummer EV Exterior designer, John Mack, told Muscle Cars &T rucks that they considered removable doors. However, he said:

“If you do removable doors or anything like that, it kind of would take away from the [premium] execution.”

In short, the new Hummer will be a luxurious and “glamorous” ride that consumers want, with an electric motor and removable roof panels. The interior will be comfortable and spacious, as one would expect from a Hummer.

And despite the absence of removable doors, this new SUV seems to lack nothing else. There will be approximately 200 accessories available for the upcoming Hummer EV, which will ensure this is an off-road vehicle that works the way you want it to work. It will have the bulk you want, the power to back it up, and the ability to go anywhere you want your adventures to take you.

Who cares about removable doors when you have all these cool features?

One of the most impressive things about this EV is its 350-kW fast-charging capability, thanks to an 800-volt electrical architecture. It gives the new GMC Hummer the ability to go about 100 miles after only a 10-minute charge.

Many prospective buyers will also enjoy the light bar and the GoPro camera mount. And for a whole new perspective, you can take advantage of underside cameras that will show you the terrain as you pass over it.

You’ll also find the new e4WD system underneath. This allows you to lock the front differential electronically. And you can opt for a three-motor model to gain access to a rear virtual locker. This model also has a unique “crab walk” mode for crawling out of tight spaces.

In addition, look out for the off-road mapping application for the 2022 GMC Hummer. This updated version of the myGMC app will work alongside the infotainment system, helping you navigate your way out of the deepest trails. Plus, the app can also show you the location of charging stations to ensure you never run out of power.

Oh no, the Rivian R1T was supposed to get out ahead of rivals as the first electric pickup truck to hit the streets. But now, the Rivian R1T is facing delays after deliveries were supposed to begin this month.

The Rivian R1T faces delays

2021 Rivian R1T | Rivian

We know that people who bought the Rivian R1T Launch Edition are pretty excited. Their brand new EV trucks were supposed to be delivered this month. But a letter was discovered that mentions the delay of R1T battery-electric pickups until September.

This isn’t the end of the world. For now, only two extra months of waiting have been added. Those waiting for the Ford Bronco may not get their SUV until 2023. But it’s still pretty disappointing.

Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe seems to understand. He shared that Rivian knows you can’t wait to get behind the wheel of your vehicle. Scaringe wanted to ensure that purchasers heard the news from himself directly.

He shared that despite announcing earlier in the summer that deliveries would begin in July, the timing for the first R1T models has shifted to September. The Rivian R1S will be delivered shortly after in the fall.

What caused the Rivian delay?

If you guessed that the 2021 Rivian R1T is facing delays due to the ongoing Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, then you’re correct. However, the continuing global chip shortage also plays a role.

Scaringe explained that the cascading impacts of the pandemic have had a more significant effect than anyone anticipated. Everything from facility construction, semiconductor chip supply, and equipment installation has been impacted.

Beyond these challenges, launching three new vehicles while preparing a multi-vehicle manufacturing plant has been complex. Minor issues that emerge during coordinated and interlinked activities can create delays.

The Rivian Plant in Normal, Illinois, is currently producing vehicles on two production lines. One is for the R1T and R1S utility vehicles, and the other is for Amazon electric delivery vans. The company is working to ensure these vehicles won’t have any quality issues.

How are the R1T and R1S different?

2021 Rivian R1S | Rivian

The 2021 Rivan R1T Launch Edition is a truck and starts at $75,000, while the Rivian R1S Launch Edition is an SUV and begins at about $77,500. Both vehicles include the large battery pack (135-KWh) with over 300 miles of EPA-estimated range.

In January 2022, a longer-range R1T with over 400 miles of range will be available. The R1S will also receive a longer-range model. It will offer between five to seven-passenger seats. This confirms that Rivian figured out how to package the battery without getting rid of the third row.

Both vehicles are close to full-size options. The R1T can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in three seconds and tow up to 11,000 lbs. The R1S can tow up to 7,700 lbs. Both options have a ground clearance of 14.4 inches and can ford water over three feet deep.

We hope that the chip shortage and Covid-19 outbreak don’t create further delays. We’re excited to see what these electric off-roaders can do once they’re released into the wild!

Have you heard about the new pickup trucks on the market like the Ford Maverick? Most people have at this point due to the creative marketing tactics used by brands. Most recently, Ford partnered with Oreo to create a snack fit for truck lovers and everyone else, too.

The Ford Maverick Oreo connection

What does the Ford Maverick have to do with Oreos, you might ask? According to The Detroit Free Press, quite a bit. Katie Pecoraro, Maverick program management supervisor, noted that the team worked tirelessly to whip up the Ford Maverick in a condensed timeline. “We cut 20 months out of the usual time frame for a product life cycle,” Pecoraro said.

At the Ford Product Development Center complex off Village Road in Dearborn, Michigan, the team worked hard behind the scenes to develop the new truck. Chris Mazur led a group of about 60 people to develop the truck’s design, product, purchasing, and supply chain strategies.

The development team wanted to work quickly before the news got out about the Maverick. Due to the fast-paced nature of the project, the group had extra snacks on hand to make it through. Pecoraro told the paper, “This being a go-fast product, we used different ways of working to be more efficient and effective. High-level management members came to us to work through milestones, rather than going through months of a different cadence.”

The offical snack of the Ford Maverick

The team worked on a tight schedule to get the truck into development. This is where the Oreos came in. Pecoraro tried to find creative ways to keep the team focused and happy as the deadlines approached, and Oreos happened to be a part of that. She made cakes, cookies, corned beef on St. Patrick’s day, and even a chili cook-off. But Oreos seemed to be the primary staff snack staple.

In the final weeks, the Maverick team went through 100 packages of Oreos. The packages ended up taped to the wall as a sort of makeshift trophy. When Oreo heard about the sandwich cookie obsession, the company included Ford in the “Oreo Thins Protection Program.” This program is meant to protect Oreos from sneaky eaters by hiding the cookie in inconspicuous packaging, such as a Ford Maverick owner’s manual.

“Ford is one of the most recognizable and popular vehicle brands in America, making it a great partner for this campaign. Unless cookie thieves have a special interest in vehicle mechanics, they won’t be snooping through the glove compartment or think twice about seeing the spine of the all-new Ford Maverick owner’s manual in their vehicle.”

Sydney Kranzmann | Oreo brand manager

Not bad, Oreo. Not bad.

Biden and the Ford F-150 Lightning marketing

Companies have gotten pretty creative with marketing these days. Earlier this year, the Ford F-150 Lightning even used President Biden as a marketing tool. Ford brought the Lightning to Biden, and the world watched as he drove it around in a parking lot. This created a ton of buzz around the new electric truck as the U.S. continues to push American-made electric vehicles.

While these marketing tactics might be a bit unorthodox, it seems to be working just fine. The Ford Maverick and Ford F-150 Lightning are everywhere. If that means eating Oreos and watching President Biden drive the F-150 around, then so be it. Feel free to send some Oreos our way for testing purposes.

Koenigsegg Automotive produces some of the finest supercars in the world. These supercars are also naturally super expensive. Despite Koenigsegg’s sky-high prices, the automaker sells vehicles with ease. In fact, the newest Koenigsegg, the Koenigsegg Jesko, is already sold out. If you were planning on purchasing a Koenigsegg Jesko, you’ll have to take your $3,000,000 elsewhere.

How fast is the Koenigsegg Jesko?

Just how fast can the Koenigsegg Jesko go? More importantly, is it worth its multi-million dollar price tag? It is so ridiculously fast that the automaker refers to it as a megacar. Its 5-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine produces an incredible 1280 horsepower. It can make 1600 horsepower using E85 biofuel.

Koenigsegg says the Jesko is the fastest car it will ever produce. This is mind-blowing considering the Koenigsegg Agera RS’ speed. The Agera RS has reached speeds of 278 miles per hour. The Jesko is estimated to reach speeds of 300 miles per hour. It is scary fast.

Is the Koenigsegg Jesko out?

The Koenigsegg Jesko sold out almost as fast as it accelerates. According to Motor Authority, the $3,000,000 car’s 125 build spots are already filled. The Jesko is still in production, and the super-rich have already reserved the super-fast car. Even if folks could afford the Jesko, chances are they have already lost the race to purchase it.

Customer deliveries will begin in 2022. Auto enthusiasts eager to check out the new megacar probably won’t be seeing this beast on local highways. Hopefully, popular automotive YouTubers will be able to show off a Jesko in all its glory.

Is the Koenigsegg Jesko the fastest car?

The SSC Tuatara is acknowledged by many as the fastest car in the world. The Tuatara has reached speeds of 316 miles per hour. There are also rumors circulating that the SSC Tuatara can go closer to 330 miles per hour, which would be preposterous for almost any other car.

The Koenigsegg Jesko is definitely one of the fastest cars in the world. The SSC Tuatara’s only current rivals are the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ and the Koenigsegg Agera RS. The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ is a modified Bugatti built for the specific goal of going beyond 300 miles per hour. It was able to reach 304 miles per hour.

The Koenigsegg Jesko is estimated to reach speeds close to the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+. It could even challenge the SSC Tuatara for the top spot. The Jesko isn’t the current fastest car in the world, but it definitely has the potential to be.

Is Koenigsegg faster than Bugatti?

It’s safe to say Koenigsegg’s biggest competition when it comes to speed is French automaker Bugatti. There are other vehicles faster than Koenigseggs, but Bugatti has been a consistent rival. Koenigsegg has produced some high-speed vehicles, but the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ turned the tables on the Swedish automaker in a huge way. It seems the Koenigsegg Jesko is the company’s greatest hope for besting Bugatti. Will the Jesko make history as one of the fastest cars ever?
