In just a few day’s time, Lotus will finally be unveiling their newest model — and don’t worry, it still carries the “E” name tradition. The Lotus Emira will be just one of the several new models to be presented by the British manufacturer, and among the excitement, it has stirred up, there has also been a lot of speculation and controversy. While you can find many Lotus cars on the used car market, it isn’t as common to find them brand new, but either way, they are surprisingly affordable for the driving experience they offer. Regardless, Lotus has been far from a popular car brand in North America, but will the new generation of cars do anything to fix that?

Lotus focuses on a niche market of drivers

If you’ve ever sat behind the wheel of a Lotus, you know how truly driver-focused these vehicles are, but they do offer a more raw driving experience than many sports cars. While the more modern versions of cars like the Lotus Evora offer more comfort features and sacrifice the weight-reduction tactics used in the Elise and Exige, they are far from the most comfortable cars to get in and out of. Regardless, the unparalleled driving experience has made the car an invaluable part of many car enthusiast collections — including several that I personally own and have enjoyed driving for ludicrously long distances.

Does Lotus actually care about the North American market?

Lotus is a British manufacturing company that focuses most of its sales in the UK, but their cars are available around the world. With that being said, Lotus has drawn harsh lines in the past of what they are and are not willing to do to remain in the North American market. That became evident with changing safety standards that the Lotus Elise battled, inevitably leading to Lotus’s decision to discontinue importation and sale of the Elise to the US market. In the past few years, the only new Lotus car that you could buy in the US market, according to Motor Authority, has been the Lotus Evora.

The Lotus Emira will be the last of it’s kind for Lotus

The Lotus Emira marks the end of an era for Lotus as it will be the last entirely internal-combustion engine powered sports car that they are set to produce. Rumors have surfaced of the next two cars being hybrid or fully electric, but with the attention on the Emira, we haven’t seen much confirmed. Only time will tell how the Emira will appeal to the American market and if it will be enough excitement to land Lotus in the spotlight long-term among sports car enthusiasts and exotic car collectors.

The new Lotus Emira is certainly an exciting addition to a lineup of driver-focused sports cars, and with the new updates promised by Lotus is has all of the potential to become a well-loved addition to the American exotic car market. The Emira, along with the promise of new electric or hybrid roadsters, is sure to stir up interest, but only sales figures and time will show if these new additions will make a long-term impression on the American market.

Are you interested in some of the most reliable luxury SUVs on the market for 2021? Check out the list compiled by U.S. News that includes some obvious options like the BMW X5 and offers interesting options like the Audi Q8. But don’t count out some of the other reliable SUV options on this list with an extra room or a third-row.

Most Reliable Luxury SUVs: 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class

The Most Reliable Luxury SUVs of 2021 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class | Mercedes-Benz

U.S. News compiled a list of some of the most reliable luxury SUVs on the market for 2021. At the top of the list was the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class. The Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class has a lot of pros, such as roomy seats and an upgraded engine. The ride and handling are second to none, and the new MBUX infotainment system is pretty cool.

Some of the drawbacks include the tight third row that is optional on some of the vehicles. The GLE 53 and GLE 63 S trims are expensive but worth it, and these are new for 2021. U.S. News gave the GLE-Class an 8.5 out of 10 overall.

Price range: $54,750 – $116,000

A classic reliable luxury SUV, the 2021 BMW X5

The 2021 BMW X5 is a classic SUV that has stood the test of time. It has a quick engine and a well-thought-out interior with a lot of room in the cabin. U.S. News says it has a lengthy features list and a balanced ride. The starting price is a bit high, but you get what you pay for with this reliable luxury SUV.

There is a plug-in-hybrid xDrive45e option for the X5 this year. It also offers Android Auto in addition to Apple Carplay. With no optional third row, the X5 has room for five. This luxury SUV got a score of 8.4 out of 10.

Price ranges: $59,400 – $105,100

The unexpected options, 2022 Audi Q8

Third on the list of most reliable luxury SUVs is the 2022 Audi Q8. U.S. News found that the Q8 had a spacious and high-end interior and powerful engine options. The ride was balanced and fun, with intuitive technology features inside. However, the fuel economy is a big drawback. U.S. News has the estimated mpg at 13-18 mpg in the city and 19-23 mpg on the highway.

One further drawback is the high starting price. The RS Q8 will run you over $100,000, but it could be worth it if you are looking for a quick SUV. Without a Safety or Quality rating, the Q8 scored an 8.3 out of 10.

Price range: $69,300 – $115,400

A roomy, three-row option is the 2021 Lincoln Aviator

The 2021 Lincoln Aviator has room for six or seven passengers. It has a “huge” cargo area and intuitive infotainment control. The ride is smooth, and the powertrain options are exciting, U.S. News says. Some of the drawbacks include narrow seats and a ride that can be too rigid at times. There were no major changes for the Aviator in 2021.

U.S. News gave the Aviator a score of 8.2 out of 10. The safety score was 9.7 out of 10, which is the highest score yet shared with the GLE-Class.

Price range: $51,100 – $88,335

A reliable luxury SUV pick: 2021 Lexus RX 350

Definitely not the most exciting, reliable luxury SUV, but the 2021 Lexus RX 350 has been around long enough to prove itself. U.S. News found the RX 250 reliable and well-rounded but felt held back by the small cargo space and back seat. The Lexus SUV has a comfortable and composed ride. There are a variety of optional features to choose from, plus a lot of features standard.

A third row is available but is too cramped for most passengers. For 2021, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and power mirrors are standard. Wireless charging is an available option. U.S. News gave the reliable luxury SUV an 8.1 out of 10.

Price range: $45,070 – $52,350

Overall, the most reliable luxury SUVs will cost a little more but offer a lot in return. The safety features and trim levels mean one of these SUVs can be configured to meet most needs. These might have a higher starting MSRP than some other vehicles, but the price is worth it.

Do you often find yourself fantasizing about the open road ahead? Dreaming of days where you can slip behind the wheel, shift your car into gear, and push that accelerator pedal to the floor? If you do dream of hitting the road behind the wheel of a fast car, you’re not alone. Unfortunately, not all sports cars are affordable. In fact, some are downright expensive. The good news is that iSeeCars recently set out to identify the fastest cars under $30K. Let’s talk about their top picks for the fastest, most affordable sports cars.

The Mazda MX-5 Miata is an affordable sports car

Mazda Miata | Mazda

If you’re in the market for an affordable sports car, you really can’t go wrong with the Mazda Miata, iSeeCars reports. Buy a new Mazda Miata, and this affordable sports car will have you spending approximately $26,830. Upgrade to the Club or Grand Touring model, however, and you will be spending more than $30K on this year’s new Mazda Miata.

And if you find yourself asking how fast the Mazda Miata is? At the heart and soul of it is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. Churning out 181-hp, this year’s Miata can move from zero to 60 in just 5.7 seconds, making it no surprise iSeeCars included it among its picks for the fastest cars under $30K. According to iSeeCars, this year’s Miata also boasts a maximum speed of 135 mph. If you’re longing for plenty of thrills every time that you get behind the wheel, that figure is nothing to scoff at.

The Hyundai Veloster N is one of the fastest affordable cars

The Mazda Miata isn’t the right fit for every driver. Fortunately, iSeeCars also included the Hyundai Veloster N among its top picks for the fastest cars under $30K. The Hyundai Veloster N churns out an impressive 275-hp via its 2.0-liter turbocharged engine and can move from 0 to 60 mpg in just 5.5 seconds. It also boasts a top speed of 155 mph. This affordable fast car is also standard with a manual transmission.

Much like the Mazda Miata, the Hyundai Veloster N is an affordable fast car too. Opt for a base model, and you’ll find yourself spending approximately $32,350. While that is slightly above $30K, it’s not prohibitively expensive for many new car shoppers. If a $32,3250 starting price is too costly for you, consider opting for a used Hyundai Veloster N instead.

The Chevrolet Camaro is one of the fastest affordable cars

The Chevrolet Camaro is one of the fastest affordable cars too. It comes driven by a 275-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and goes from zero to 60 in a mere 5.4 seconds. According to iSeeCars, it also reaches a max speed of 155 mph.

And if that’s not enough power for you? The Chevrolet Camaro is also available with a 335-hp 3.6 liter V6 that moves from zero to 60 in five seconds, a 355-hp 6.2-liter V8 that can reach 60 mph in four seconds, and a 650-hp 6.2-liter V8 that will have you moving from zero to 60 in just 3.5 seconds.

As for how much the Chevrolet Camaro costs? Opt for a base 2021 Chevrolet Camaro, and this year’s model will cost you $25,000. Upgrade to a more well-outfitted trim level, and you should expect to spend significantly more on this year’s Camaro. In fact, at its most expensive, the Camaro will have you spending at least $63,000. For those in the market for the fastest cars under $30K, that price tag is definitely on the most expensive side of things.

The Dodge Challenger is a cheap muscle car under $30K

The Dodge Challenger secured a spot on iSeeCars’ list of the fastest cars under $30K too. Though, it’s no surprise as to why. The Dodge Challenger is a cheap sports car that provides plenty of thrills. In fact, it comes equipped with a 303-hp 3.6-liter six-cylinder engine that boasts 303-hp to its name and can reach a maximum speed of 156 mph. It’s also available with a 375-hp 5.7-liter Hemi V8, a 485-hp 6.4-liter Hemi V8, and a 717-hp supercharged 6.2-liter V8.

The Dodge Challenger is an affordable muscle car too. This year’s model starts at $28,870. Opt for a Challenger GT model, and you’ll find yourself spending slightly more than $30,000. At its most expensive, the Dodge Challenger SRT Super Stock will have you spending $82,270.

The Ford Mustang is the fastest car under $30K

When it came to choosing the fastest car for under $30K, iSeeCars chose none other than the Ford Mustang. This affordable sports car starts at $27,205. The Ford Mustang is available in several additional trim levels. However, most will have you spending over $30K.

The good news is that the Ford Mustang makes nary a compromise when it comes to what’s under the hood. In fact, standard is a 2.3-liter turbo four-cylinder engine with 310-hp. With this engine under the hood, the Mustang will have you moving from zero to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds. For even more power under the hood, consider a Ford Mustang equipped with a 5.0-liter V8 engine, which reaches 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds. It also reaches a maximum speed of 180 mph.

What is the fastest car for under $30K?

There’s no beating around the bush here. The Ford Mustang is the fastest car for under $30K. But if it isn’t quite your style? The good news is that iSeeCars included several other affordable sports cars among its list of the fastest cars under $30K.

If you can’t find the right new SUV right now, you can trust in a used Honda CR-V. The Honda CR-V just claimed a significant victory as the best used SUV for 2021. Let’s take a closer look at why it won’t let you down.

Consider a used Honda CR-V

2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid | honda

According to Autotrader, the 2017 – 2020 Honda CR-V serves as the best used SUV option for 2021. It dominates in the compact SUV category on their list of the 10 best used options. It ranks ahead of the Jeep Wrangler, Subaru Outback, Kia Telluride, and more.

It ranks highly for having tons of interior space, the hybrid model has an excellent fuel economy, and it has a low cost of ownership. It’s a practical option for basic and reliable transportation that’s engaging to drive and highly versatile.

A new CR-V starts around $25,350 and provides up to 39.2 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seat with up to 75.8 cubes total. The Hybrid CR-V gets an EPA-estimated 40 mpg in the city and up to 35 mpg on the highway.

How many miles will a CR-V last?

But is a used Honda CR-V reliable? Yes, it is. According to Motor & Wheels, if properly maintained, a CR-V can last between 250,000 to 300,000 miles on the road. This creates a lifespan of about 16 to 20 years, meaning the CR-V is one of the most dependable SUV options.

They used a study from iSeeCars to determine these numbers. iSeeCars collected data from thousands of used vehicle sales to determine the longest-lasting options. The CR-V should live longer than popular rivals such as the Toyota Rav4 and Subaru Outback, which should both make it to about 250,000 miles.

Then we switched gears again to see how reliable the CR-V is. Consumer Reports gave the 2020 CR-V a predicted reliability rating of five out of five. Not only is this score above average, but it’s the highest score possible.

We went back a few years, and the 2018 model has a reliability score of four out of five, and the 2017 model has a score of three out of five. This indicates that the potential issues reported by previous owners may have been resolved.

Determining which used Honda CR-V model is best may come down to personal research based on what’s available in your area. Remember to take a look at the vehicle’s condition and history before buying it. How well an SUV is taken care of can affect its longevity.

In 2017, the CR-V got a redesign with a more confident exterior look and a more practical interior layout. It gained a new infotainment system with an average size and graphics. New safety features include automatic emergency braking and lane-keeping assistance.

The CR-V didn’t change much for 2018, but it received praise for having a modernized dashboard and a digitally enhanced instrument cluster. In 2019, the CR-V gained a new Platinum White Pearl color. For 2020, the CR-V gained more standard safety features across all models, including automated emergency braking. But the 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine option was dropped.

It will be hard to go wrong with any used Honda CR-V option. It serves as a reliable and safe SUV with an affordable price. It’s well-rounded with tons of space, and you can add all-wheel drive to tackle slippery conditions.
