I Took a 2026 GMC Sierra Denali EV Camping With a 30-Foot Trailer

Can you really take an electric truck camping? I hooked a 30-foot travel trailer to a 2026 GMC Sierra EV Denali and drove 152 miles through western Nebraska to find out.
The Sierra EV started each leg of the trip at 100% charge and arrived with 62% remaining. At the campground, I plugged the truck into the available 50-amp electrical service and woke up to a fully charged battery.
In this real-world towing test, I cover:
• How much battery the Sierra EV used while towing
• Charging overnight at a campground
• Towing with GM Super Cruise
• Regenerative braking with a travel trailer
• Trailer squat and weight-distributing hitch setup
• Why the factory mirrors are not ideal for a camper this size
• Whether an electric truck makes sense for camping
The 2026 GMC Sierra EV Denali has a maximum conventional towing capacity of 10,000 pounds, but towing range remains highly dependent on trailer size, aerodynamics, speed, wind and weather.
