When Will Land Rover Release an Electric SUV?
Many automakers are making a push to electrify their model lineups, including marque luxury brands. Recently, Mercedes unveiled the all-electric EQG concept SUV at the 2021 Munich Motor Show. Land Rover hasn’t yet unveiled an electric SUV, but it plans to release one by 2024. In all likelihood, the first Land Rover model to get an electric powertrain will be the Defender. In the meanwhile, how about a modified electric Land Rover Series IIA?

While an electric Land Rover isn’t currently available, if you like classic Land Rovers, there is another way. With this modified electric Land Rover Series IIA, you can enjoy eco-friendly off-road excursions in an iconic classic SUV. Modified by the UK’s Everrati Automotive, the electric Land Rover Series IIA provides a luxurious off-road driving experience while producing zero emissions.
Electric Land Rover Series IIA: Features, specs, and range
The electric Land Rover Series IIA made its debut earlier this month at Concours of Elegance at Hampton Court Palace. Before Everrati converts the Series IIA into an electric luxury off-roader, it strips it down and restores the chassis and the body. To prevent corrosion, Everrati galvanizes the Series IIA and coats it with a layer of protective zinc.
The electric Land Rover Series IIA can go from 0-60 mph in 13 seconds. This is 10 seconds faster than the original gas-powered model. The electric motor produces 150 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque. The original model only generates only 70 hp and 120 lb-ft of torque. The range of the electric Land Rover Series IIA is up to 125 miles. It can be charged using a regular home-based AC charger or a DC fast charger.

Like the original Series IIA, the electric Series IIA has modes for both four-wheel drive and front-wheel drive, as well as high and low ranges. To improve the driving dynamics of the electric Series IIA, Everrati added power brakes and steering. Also, the electric Series IIA has a regenerative braking system, which captures the energy that’s emitted when you apply the brakes.
The interior of the electric Land Rover Series IIA has some upgrades as well. The front seats have a heating function, while the rear bench seat features Bridge of Weir leather, with a finish of Chestnut Automotive Nappa. Additionally, the Series IIA can be equipped with heated lap belts. The starting price of the electric Series IIA is £150,000 (around $208,000).
History of the Land Rover Series IIA
The Land Rover Series models have an iconic place in automotive history. While off-road SUVs are all the rage these days, the Land Rover Series models helped pioneer the segment many decades ago. The Series IIA made its debut in 1961. It is a pleasing blend of rugged capabilities and classic styling. It is suitable for both wilderness excursions and urban driving.
