The 2027 Toyota Sequoia receives much more than an updated grille.
Toyota is adding a value-focused Trailhunter package based on the SR5, complete with Old Man Emu suspension, all-terrain tires, underbody protection, recovery hooks, Multi-Terrain Select, Crawl Control and an electronic locking rear differential.
Every 2027 Sequoia also receives a 14-inch infotainment screen with Toyota’s latest software, a built-in drive recorder, Digital Key availability and a 2.4-kW inverter capable of powering camping equipment, tools and tailgating gear.
Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 brings another important improvement: The engine will remain running when the door is opened after using remote start. The system can also recognize a connected trailer and prevent the parking sensors from going crazy while backing up.
Publisher Tim Esterdahl breaks down all the announced changes, compares the new front end with the 2026 Sequoia and discusses the lingering owner concerns Toyota still needs to address.

What is the most reliable full-size truck? We ranked the Ford F-150, Ram 1500, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500 and Toyota Tundra using PUTT reliability reporting, NHTSA recalls, owner complaints, failure severity and repeat problems.
Consumer Reports and J.D. Power are included for comparison, but neither determined our final ranking. A failed screen matters, but a failed engine matters much more.
