The Mazda CX-5 is one of the favorite crossover SUVs on the market right now. While Consumer Reports loves the Mazda CX-5, it did not seem to love the Jeep Compass quite as much. How do the two cars compare?

What is the best year for Mazda CX 5?

Consumer Reports chose the 2021 Mazda CX-5 as one of the 10 most reliable cars for this year. It came in seconds on the list of Compact Sport Utility vehicles with an overall score of 83. Potential owners will be happy to know it scored a five out of five for predicted reliability and four out of five for predicted owner satisfaction.

CR notes that the 2021 CX-5 improved this year with ride comfort, interior quality, and noise isolation within the cabin. The 187-hp 2.5L four-cylinder has a six-speed transmission. The SUV gets around 24 miles per gallon overall.

The Mazda SUV is easy to drive and responsive, with an improved smooth ride even over the 2020 version. 73% of CX-5 owners say they would purchase the same car again.

The price of the 2021 Mazda CX-5 is between $25,370 and $37,505. The estimated annual fuel cost is around $1,190.

Does the Jeep Compass have a lot of problems?

The 2021 Jeep Compass is still a solid car for those who are brand loyal. Consumer Reports gave the compass a score of 39 on the overall test. For the road test, it scored 56 out of 100. Still not a bad score. However, the predicted owner satisfaction came in at a one out of five. The predicted reliability was better, scoring two out of five.

The 2.4L engine gets 180 horsepower. It is offered in a six and nine-speed transmission. The Compass gets the same EPA-estimated 24 miles per gallon overall. Where the CX-5 shined, the Compass fell short. Some of the “lows” listed include that this Jeep is slow, noisy, rough-riding, short on agility and the rear seat is uncomfortable. The highs? “The allure of the Jeep brand” and the controls are easy to use.

The Compass is priced between $24,495 and $31,395 with the same $1,190 estimated annual fuel cost.

Consumer Reports picks the Mazda SUV

RELATED: What Problems Does the Mazda CX-5 Have?

While the two compact SUVs are similarly priced, the CX-5 seems like the better buy. Both are four-door SUVs with a variety of drivetrains offered, and both have room for five passengers. The horsepower and fuel economy are fairly similar as well.

The Mazda has forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and pedestrian detection standard. It also has lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot warning. None of these features come standard in the Jeep. These features are optional but not included. Pedestrian detection is not optional.

From the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), both the CX-5 and the Compass rated “good” for most crash tests. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave the CX-5 more five-star ratings than the Compass. The Compass scored three stars for the rollover test, while the Mazda SUV scored four stars.

While Jeep lovers might be fine with the Compass, other drivers might find the lack of standard safety features a deterrent. Go for the Mazda otherwise.

Ford and Chevrolet sit at the top of American automakers. Each brand has its own style, and many consumers remain loyal to one. Among Ford’s top sellers is the Mustang, while the Camaro is Chevy’s answer to the Blue Oval’s pony car. So which model boasts the most sales?

Ford Mustang: Turning heads since 1964

Consumer Reports isn’t the Ford Mustang’s biggest fan. In fact, the 2021 model is the first to earn a CR recommendation. But consumers love this iconic sports car. Its sharp looks, fast engines, and bright colors have won the hearts of car enthusiasts everywhere.

The Mustang has been turning heads since 1964, and it never seems to get old. Its debut sent other automakers into a panic, forcing them to up their game. And just when we think Ford has outdone itself, a new model appears, and we all fall in love again.

The Ford Mustang is so popular that it’s often used as a race car and featured in James Bond films such as Gold Finger, Thunderball, and Diamonds Are Forever.

Chevy Camaro: The bowtie brand’s answer to the Mustang

Believe it or not, the Chevy Camaro wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for the Ford Mustang. When the Stang debuted in 1964, Chevrolet had nothing to compete. Knowing it had to pony up or fall behind, the bowtie brand did a rush job on the Camaro, and the first production model made it to dealerships in 1966.

Because Chevy didn’t put much thought into the first Camaro, that generation lasted a mere three years. But it was hard to deny the car’s appeal, and consumers were quick to fall in love. Even though many problems plagued the first and second generations, the Camaro developed a solid customer base that shunned the Mustang simply because it wasn’t a Camaro.

Like the Mustang, the Camaro has appeared in films. It made a big splash in 2 Fast 2 Furious. It also made fans drool in Transformers when Bumblebee was so impressed with a passing 2010 Camaro that he decided to emulate it. The Camaro appeared again in Transformers: The Last Knight.

Chevy continues to redesign its muscle car in hopes of keeping up with the Ford Mustang. Both have plenty of appeal, and the rivalry is still going strong. But who’s winning the sales war?

Which sports car makes the most money?

While the Chevy Camaro is hugely popular with car enthusiasts, the Ford Mustang wins this competition by overwhelming numbers. In fact, the numbers are sometimes double what the Camaro brings in. It wasn’t always like that, however.

Good Car, Bad Car listed the sales for the Chevy Camaro. It brought in more sales during 2010-2014. This was often very close, however.

Since 2015, Good Car, Bad Car reports that the Ford Mustang has been dominating the Camaro. Last year, when sales were poor for all vehicles, the Camaro brought in a mere 29,777 sales. The Mustang, by comparison, brought in 61,090 sales. This year is shaping up to be another win for the Mustang, and it’s sold 25,244 vehicles, compared to 7,088 sales from the Camaro.

Currently, the 2021 Chevrolet Camaro starts at $25,000. The 2021 Ford Mustang is a little more expensive with a starting price of $27,155. Given the fact that the Camaro is cheaper, it would seem like more people would be drawn to it, but sometimes price doesn’t account for everything.
