This Jeep Grand Cherokee is what the SRT team calls its “rolling laboratory.”

Under the hood is a modified 3.0-liter Hurricane High Output engine producing roughly 90 horsepower more than the standard version. It is also equipped with a new eBoost Air system designed to eliminate turbo lag.

The system uses a 48-volt electric compressor to provide immediate airflow when the driver hits the throttle. This allows the engine to use larger turbochargers for greater power without waiting for them to spool.

Patrick Rall takes a closer look under the hood, explains how the eBoost Air system works and shows the experimental Jeep Grand Cherokee launching from both outside and inside the vehicle.

Could this technology preview the next high-performance SRT powertrain?

What new truck would I buy with my money? Here's my pick; what's yours?

Ford has revealed the Fathom, a new electric pickup expected to start around $30,000. But is this affordable EV truck destined to become a major sales success, or is Ford overestimating the demand?

In this Truck News Recap, Publisher Tim Esterdahl explains what we know about the Ford Fathom, how its size and price could compare with the Ford Maverick, and why the Slate truck may be its most important competitor. He also breaks down who might actually buy a compact electric pickup with roughly 200 miles of range.

Other news this week includes our first Pickup Truck + SUV Talk full-size truck award, the latest 2027 Ford F-150 and Ram 1500 changes, Toyota Highlander reliability problems and what we learned while towing a camper with the GMC Sierra EV.

The 2027 Ram 1500 has a surprisingly confusing list of engine changes. The Hemi eTorque mild-hybrid system is being phased out, but some early-production trucks will still have it. And while the new non-eTorque Hemi loses Auto Start/Stop, that system isn’t disappearing across the Ram 1500 lineup.

In this video, Publisher Tim Esterdahl digs through the 2027 Ram 1500 order guide and Ram’s official information to explain exactly what is changing.

There’s plenty more beyond the engines, too. Ram is expanding surround-view camera availability, changing equipment and packages, bringing onboard power to more configurations, adding and expanding exterior colors and bringing more performance-oriented trucks into the lineup.

If you’re shopping for a 2027 Ram 1500, you’re definitely going to want to know which version you’re getting.
